Vendors offer exclusive armors and equipment that cannot be obtained elsewhere, and in certain areas, possessing a substantial amount of gold can greatly simplify matters – such as bribing guards who have witnessed your unlawful actions.

When it comes to the best methods to make Gold in BG3, players have several options. Selling items to vendors and completing quests are the most obvious ways to earn money, but there are additional nuanced strategies to consider. Enhance your Gold farming in Baldur's Gate 3 with the following methods and tips, and maximize your savings (or recover lost money) in the process.

Loot Every Body, Steal Everything That Isn't Nailed Down

A surefire method to swiftly accumulate Gold in Baldur's Gate 3 is by consistently gathering and trading various items to merchants – regardless of their high value. Even ordinary armor pieces and weapons can fetch a substantial sum of money – most equipment, ranging from the common Goblin Scimitar to the mighty Heavy Armor, are worth far more than their actual weight in Gold.

Besides equipment, players can also pick up and sell environmental items and decorations. Silver Plates and Platters, commonly found on dining tables, have a minimum value of 30 gold and are lightweight. Additionally, Paintings are often worth hundreds of gold and weigh less than 1 lb.

Once the party reaches its maximum carrying capacity, it is advisable to visit a vendor, sell the unnecessary items, and resume looting. The quickest method to accumulate gold in BG3 is to loot and sell any items that have a favorable weight-to-value ratio, including stolen goods.

As long as no one can see the treacherous partner (press Shift, or use the Hide action, to see vision cones), belongings pilfered from chests can be disposed of without any concern of getting apprehended. Should you get caught, however, be ready to negotiate your way out, offer a bribe, or make your way to Prison.

Certain Potions may not have a significant impact on a player's Class, some Scrolls may duplicate spells already covered by Cantrips within the group, and Ingots and Jewels may only serve a purpose in specific questlines (where they are associated with uniquely named items).

Pause your adventure through BG3 every twelve hours or so to review your inventory and discard any items that are not valuable. If you have more than five arrows, scrolls, potions (excluding healing potions), or throwables of the same kind, consider trading some for gold. It is likely that the party will not miss these items if you were not using them anyways. The only exceptions to this are rare and very rare items, as they may not be obtainable again once sold.

While not every side quest in the game guarantees a tangible reward, most will grant players either a magical item or a generous amount of Gold once successfully completed.

After defeating a major boss at the end of Act 2, players have the opportunity to interact with several NPCs whose storylines conclude with the demise of this character. Each of these characters expresses their gratitude by rewarding the players with a substantial amount of Gold. While some quests offer magical items instead of Gold, it is still beneficial to complete them as any equipment that is not usable by the player's party can be sold for a profit.

Apart from quests, players can stumble upon Chests scattered throughout the open world and dungeons, most of which contain a significant amount of Gold along with other items. One of the most effective ways to obtain gold in BG3 is by having a high Survival skill and carrying a Shovel, which can be utilized to uncover hidden Dirt Mounds and Chests indicated by Survival checks. Alternatively, players with an exceptional Lockpicking and Sleight of Hand skill can choose to break into locked chests, which often yield superior loot and a larger sum of Gold compared to chests discovered through Survival checks.

Earn an Honest Living Performing For Tips, Or...

One way to earn Baldur's Gate 3 Gold is by utilizing the Performance skill. By equipping an Instrument (ideally with Musical Instrument Proficiency), players can use the Perform skill to attract a crowd. This crowd will be willing to pay if the player's Performance checks are successful.

To earn gold while playing an instrument, simply sit back and observe as the audience throws Gold onto the ground as a tip for the performer. As long as the player continues to pass Performance checks, the crowd will keep leaving tips. While it may not be the quickest or most efficient method of earning money in BG3, it provides a pleasant way to acquire a few dozen Gold and create a diversion simultaneously.

...Pickpocket Merchants & Withers For Your Money Back

Players who are not inclined to perform songs for an audience or prefer to acquire items without dealing with merchants can opt for the Pickpocket skill. Successfully pickpocketing in Baldur's Gate 3 requires a high level of Sleight of Hand, making Rogues the most suitable class for this activity.

When a character sneakily approaches an NPC, the option to engage in conversation is replaced by the Pickpocket prompt. By pickpocketing an NPC, their inventory is accessed, and each item can be clicked on to determine the required dice roll for a successful theft. Generally, smaller and less valuable items are easier to steal, although acquiring Gold is not as challenging as one might assume.

There are two highly profitable methods for obtaining Gold through pickpocketing in Baldur's Gate 3. The first involves stealing from Merchants to recover the money spent on their goods. The second method entails stealing from Withers, who holds the money spent on respeccing and hiring hirelings. When players make a purchase from an NPC, the Gold directly goes into the NPC's inventory. Simply sneak around, Hide, and retrieve the Gold through pickpocketing. Withers, the respec NPC, charges 100 and 200 Gold for services but always carries this amount on their person. Interestingly, Withers seems unfazed by players taking back their money through pickpocketing, regardless of how many attempts are made. Consequently, Withers' services essentially become free, allowing players to save hundreds of Gold for more expensive purchases, such as a custom statue of their own character.
