The game is currently slated for release on PC and PlayStation consoles.
London-based studio SFB Games, comprised of brothers Adam and Tom Vian, has recently revealed their upcoming title, Crow Country. This retro horror experience captures the essence of classic Resident Evil, adding to the collection of spine-chilling games unveiled leading up to Halloween 2023. With a decade of game development under their belt, SFB Games, formerly known as The Super Flash Bros., has delivered nine incredible games, including the highly regarded Snipperclips and Tangle Tower.
Crow Country is the first full-fledged horror game developed by SFB, with previous games only hinting at horror themes. Adam Vian gave a glimpse of the upcoming game in spring 2022, describing its visual style as a combination of Final Fantasy 7 and the original Resident Evil. An official announcement trailer for Crow Country has now been released, revealing that the game will be available soon on PS4, PS5, and PC. In the meantime, a playable demo can already be downloaded via Steam and the PlayStation Store.
Set in the rural outskirts of 1990 Atlanta, Georgia, the game follows Mara Forest, a mysterious woman on a mission to locate Edward Crow, the vanished owner of the Crow Country theme park. The park has been closed for some time when the story begins, and the game's central mystery revolves around Crow's disappearance and the reasons behind the park's closure. The announcement trailer hints at there being more to Mara's identity than initially meets the eye.
SFB's vision for Crow Country is primarily a classic survival-horror game. However, they are also conscious of players who prefer a spooky interactive story without the stress of combat, which is why they have included the combat-free Exploration mode. While Crow Country has been confirmed for PC and PlayStation consoles, it's possible that it may expand to other platforms in the future. SFB's previous game, Tangle Tower, was released on multiple platforms including PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, PC, Mac, and is currently available on iOS devices as an Apple Arcade exclusive. Fans of horror can look forward to a jam-packed October 2023 with plenty of new horror releases across games, movies, and TV shows.
Crow Country is coming soon to PC, PS4, and PS5.
