Google has finally revealed more details about its highly anticipated Pixel Tablet, which is set to compete against Apple’s iPad lineup and Samsung’s Galaxy Tab series. The Pixel Tablet marks the first Android tablet to be released by Google since the Pixel C back in 2015, with the only attempt after that being the short-lived Pixel Slate, which used ChromeOS instead of Android. This time around, the company has opted for a 10.95-inch LCD screen boasting a resolution of 2560 x 1600, an 8MP front-facing camera, an 8MP camera on the back, and Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, and a USB 3.2 Gen 1 USB Type-C port for connectivity. All in all, the Pixel Tablet seems to be a promising addition to Google’s range of devices.
The Pixel Tablet is equipped with Google's own Tensor G2 SoC, the same chipset found in the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. As a result, the tablet delivers impressive performance, as evidenced by our positive experiences with the Pixel 7 series. Despite the larger screen and increased pixel count, the Tensor G2 handles the demands with ease. Additionally, the tablet boasts 128-256 GB of storage, 8 GB of RAM, a convenient side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and a 27 Wh battery.
To further enhance the user experience, Google has positioned the Pixel Tablet as more than just a typical tablet. When paired with a dock accessory, the tablet transforms into an upscale smart display that can remain charged and output audio through the dock's powerful speakers. The tablet also features a photo frame mode and is ready to respond to Google Assistant commands.
The Pixel Tablet will be released next month, at a starting price of $499 — nearly twice the price of the 10.2-inch iPad. Google will also include the dock in the box, which is nice. You can pre-order it from the Google Store.
