Unleash the True Power of Lumine with Spectacular Region-themed Skins in Genshin Impact

A talented Genshin Impact fan designs stunning region-themed skins for Lumine, the game's protagonist, featuring four unique outfits representing the diverse regions of Teyvat

Highlights

Fans of Genshin Impact have expressed disappointment with the game's limited selection of alternative outfits for its playable characters, noting that this aspect falls behind its competitors in terms of monetization options.

The main characters, Aether and Lumine, are limited to their default appearances by the developers, ignoring the possibility of different outfits. Lumine's showcased attire is inspired by various regions in Genshin Impact, like Liyue and Inazuma, yet there is no costume representing the latest region of Fontaine.

A talented player has exhibited their creativity by designing four new outfits for Lumine in Genshin Impact, each inspired by the different regions of Teyvat that the Traveler has explored. While Genshin Impact does have premium outfits available for purchase in its in-game store, which are occasionally given for free during specific Flagship Events, many fans feel that HoYoverse, the game's developer, hasn't focused enough on the cosmetic aspect of their monetization platform compared to their competitors.

Certain characters like Jean and Mona have free alternative outfits, while characters like Diluc and Klee have premium options that players can buy. However, out of the game's 71 playable characters, only 14 have alternative skins, leaving the majority of characters with their default outfits. Given the immense popularity of Genshin Impact and its earnings from banner pulls, some fans believe that HoYoverse is potentially missing out on a significant amount of revenue.

Though players have the ability to assemble various powerful teams in Genshin Impact, the protagonists of the story, Lumine and Aether, serve as the player's avatar in story cutscenes. While it may initially seem like a given for HoYoverse to offer alternate outfits for Aether and Lumine, the developers have firmly chosen to restrict the twins to their default appearance. Nonetheless, pinnko took the initiative to imagine four distinct outfits for Lumine, drawing inspiration from different regional styles like Inazuma, Liyue, and Sumeru, before sharing the final results on Genshin Impact's subreddit.

The first style clearly embodies a Liyue aesthetic, while the second style embraces a look associated with the Adventurer's Guild, deviating from Mondstadt's traditional attire. Given that Mondstadt serves as the starting point in Genshin Impact, where players are introduced to key elements like the Adventurer's Guild, this design choice is completely valid. Regrettably, there is currently no outfit available for the latest region, Fontaine, although it would likely feature an extravagant hat.

One potential explanation for the reluctance of HoYoverse to alter the Traveler's appearance is their significant presence in pre-rendered cutscenes, where their sword is famously depicted as the Dull Blade, and their elemental abilities consistently match the region in which the story unfolds. While it may take years for Aether and Lumine to receive a makeover, Kaeya's new outfit in Genshin Impact could potentially hint at Amber being the next in line to receive a premium skin, thereby completing the set of starter characters in Genshin Impact having themed outfits.

Genshin Impact is available now for PC, Mobile, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
