A player of Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has uncovered a helpful trick to make collecting Star Fragments much easier. While there are existing farming methods for other common items, this particular exploit is sure to be appreciated by fans.
Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is a game designed to offer players almost limitless freedom, which also means there are plenty of opportunities for exploits. These exploits can range from accessing areas before intended, effortlessly defeating tough enemies, to stockpiling the rarest collectibles. In the case of Tears of the Kingdom, Star Fragments are both impressive and elusive materials. They fall from the sky seemingly at random, only appear at night, and vanish once the sun rises. Additionally, they always land far away from the player's location, making it likely that Link won't reach them in time before they disappear.
Fortunately, a Redditor named Hunterjet discovered a strategy for efficiently gathering Star Fragments in the game. This strategy involves utilizing the game's fast travel and time-passing mechanics. The goal of the strategy is to provide an alternate method to the well-known glitches found in Tears of the Kingdom. The process begins by warping to the Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower, which has a convenient cooking pot nearby. The player rests until night time, then launches themselves from the tower and dives to the Star Fragment that consistently appears in the area. Afterward, Hunterjet teleports to the Mayam Shrine located above in the sky. By diving back down to the ground, they are able to collect another Star Fragment that manifests in that particular area. In just two minutes, Hunterjet was able to gather two Star Fragments using this method. By repeating the process, they managed to collect all 103 Star Fragments needed to upgrade the 35 different armor sets in the game known as Tears of the Kingdom. Additionally, Hunterjet provided a list of warp points that are compatible with this strategy, as well as those that are not, allowing players to choose the most effective locations for themselves. One important note is that the player must not have already obtained a Star Fragment on the same in-game day they begin this exploit. However, this can be easily resolved by allowing a day to pass.
Gamers discovering exploits like this is always impressive, and this farming technique is undeniably one of the most advantageous ones in Tears of the Kingdom so far. However, considering Nintendo's track record of patching other grinding exploits, it is uncertain how much longer this inventive strategy will remain viable.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is exclusively available on the Nintendo Switch.
