Following the trend of many popular PC games, Baldur's Gate 3 has gained significant attention from the modding community due to its immense success. Consequently, the RPG already features hundreds of mods, with the most popular ones being downloaded hundreds of thousands of times within just two weeks of the game's launch.
Baldur's Gate 3 Party AI Mods
- In an effort to enhance the combat experience in Baldur's Gate 3, various customizations have been introduced. One such modification involves the utilization of AI-controlled companions. This innovative concept was initially implemented through the AI Friends mod, devised by talented modders MalachXaviel and Nox Phantom. By casting a straightforward Friends spell, players can activate AI-controlled party members. Furthermore, deactivating this feature simply requires recasting the same incantation.

Drawing inspiration from this concept, modder oilnarak01 developed their own AI Control Party During Combat mod. This mod incorporates the spell toggling mechanism used in AI Friends, while also expanding its influence to the entire party, including the protagonist. As a result, players now have the ability to completely automate combat encounters within the game. With this mod, a party composed of a pre-built Origin character and three powerful companions in Baldur's Gate 3 can unleash significant chaos without player intervention.
Both recently released mods repurpose the game's existing AI system to allow for AI-controlled characters. They support single-target activations, enabling players to maintain control over select party members while automating the actions of others. Utilizing these mods for strategic task delegation can potentially speed up encounters in Baldur's Gate 3 without giving the impression of cheating, as the AI-controlled companions will not possess greater intelligence than their class equivalents encountered by players on the battlefield.
In addition, AI allies can enhance the accessibility of the Dungeons and Dragons games for newcomers.
