What is the Red Focus?
Naraka: Bladepoint stands out as an exceptional choice for battle royale enthusiasts. Unlike other games in the genre, Naraka: Bladepoint offers a distinctive focus on melee combat. Players can unleash the power of an extensive array of melee weapons, ranging from nunchucks to daggers and even halberds. While ranged weapons do exist, the heart and soul of Naraka: Bladepoint lies in its thrilling melee gameplay.
Players in Naraka: Bladepoint need to familiarize themselves with the three main types of attacks. These attacks mirror the dynamics of rock-paper-scissors, as players should aim to employ an attacking style that trumps an opposing attack type. It's important to note that blocking is not possible in the game, but players can nullify an enemy's attack by utilizing the same type of 'Focus.' Here is a breakdown of the three primary attack types and their respective counters:
- Normal attacks overpower Red Focus attacks.
- Red Focus attacks overpower Blue Focus attacks.
- Blue Focus attacks overpower Normal attacks.
What are Normal Attacks?
R2 or L2. Choose between a right or left mouse click.
Normal attacks do not require any 'Focus' and are not indicated by any color when executed. They can be performed simply by pressing an attack button. Normal attacks are commonly used in auto-combos with melee weapons and primarily serve to add damage within a combo. However, they can also be effective in catching parrying enemies off-guard, as they are unaffected by the enemy's Red Focus (parry).
What is the Blue Focus?
Click attack repeatedly or hold down the attack button to trigger an automatic combo.
Blue Focus attacks are highly efficient combo techniques that can be executed effortlessly during combat. These attacks are generally more powerful than regular moves and inflict significantly greater damage. To perform a Blue Focus attack, simply initiate a combo while equipped with a weapon.
This will automatically activate at least one Blue Focus attack. If not, you can simply hold down one of the attack buttons (or both simultaneously) to charge up a Blue Focus attack. The Blue Focus attack is crucial, as it builds up power through regular attacks and specific actions with Hyper Armor.
What is the Red Focus?
Press both attack buttons at the same time. (R1 also works on a controller).
Red Focus, also referred to as parrying or the Parry Focus, is a swift maneuver that enables players to effectively counter their enemies. By executing a successful parry, players can force their opponents to momentarily drop their weapons, rendering them defenseless. Despite its potential, this action is greatly underrated in Naraka: Bladepoint. Those who have mastered the timing of their parries elevate their gameplay to a whole new level in the battle royale.
The Parry Focus exploits an opponent's attack pattern to perfection, resulting in a successful parry when facing a Blue Focus. Not only does this parry effectively repel opponents, but it also disarms them in the process.
Naraka: Bladepoint is available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC.
