Game developer David Szymanski, known for his indie games, has introduced a unique feature called the Markiplier Mode in Iron Lung. This gaming mode surrounds players with images of the popular YouTuber, in reference to the game's upcoming film adaptation, which Markiplier is currently involved in.
In line with the spooky ambiance of October, both mainstream and indie game developers have been releasing Halloween-themed updates, particularly in the horror genre. Epic Games, for instance, has included Michael Myers in Fortnite, while Behaviour Interactive has launched the Haunted by Daylight Halloween event in Dead by Daylight. This event not only brings back fan-favorite elements but also introduces new exciting twists for players to enjoy. Szymanski follows suit with other developers by adding Halloween-themed elements to Iron Lung, making it an appealing choice for fans of indie horror games.
According to Zymanski's announcement on Steam, they have introduced several cheat codes for Iron Lung players to enhance their gameplay. These cheats include a black and white mode, vibrant lighting effects, and the ability to install a speaker within the submarine. Moreover, there is a special cheat code called Markiplier Mode, which replaces the submarine's internal texture with images of Markiplier, immersing players in his presence, except for a few essential buttons and indicator lights.
Zymanski's introduction of the Markiplier Mode into Iron Lung may come as a surprise to fans of the indie game who are not familiar with the YouTuber's recent activities. This mode pays homage to Markiplier's involvement in directing and starring in the film adaptation of Iron Lung. In addition to the new cheats, Zymanski has also announced that as part of the Steam Scream: The Revenge event, which began on October 26 and ends on November 2, Iron Lung will be available at a 20% discount. Furthermore, the indie game developer has stated that after the sale, the price of Iron Lung will increase from $6 to $8. However, to compensate for this, all future updates and DLC, including behind-the-scenes photos from the movie, will be provided free of charge.
While some potential gamers may have concerns about the $2 price increase for Iron Lung, Zymanski has assured players that this will be a one-time occurrence. "I believe that $8 is a more reasonable price, aligned with what other horror games charge, and is more sustainable for me in the long term," stated Zymanski. Regardless, gamers, particularly Markiplier fans, may find that the additional value provided outweighs the price increase. Only time will determine whether Zymanski's words hold true in the future.
