The male alien, caught up in his fond memories of their shared moments, shares his adoration for the times their faces have been in close proximity. Surprising the female alien, this heartfelt reflection sparks her interest in a "mouth push," and without hesitation, he responds with a tender kiss. Both feeling a rush of joy, their blushing faces reflect the happiness they have found in each other.
How Strange Planet Is A Fresh Direction For Dan Harmon
Harmon is widely known for creating the popular sitcom Community and co-creating the successful Adult Swim animated comedy Rick and Morty. In Rick and Morty, he voices the character Birdperson, who is Rick's old friend. Harmon has also brought several of his collaborators from these shows, such as Pudi and Yvette Nicole Brown, as well as frequent Rick and Morty guest star Gary Anthony Williams, to appear in Strange Planet.
Although another sci-fi project would seem fitting for Harmon, given the success of his Adult Swim comedy, Strange Planet has proven to be an exciting and refreshing new direction for him. Unlike Rick and Morty and his recently premiered show Krapopolis, which achieved a premiere record previously held by Family Guy for over 20 years, Strange Planet delves into deeper emotional and societal observations. In contrast to his other shows, where these themes are typically explored in just an episode or two, Strange Planet allows them to drive the entire season.
Having Amalia Levari, the showrunner of Over the Garden Wall, on board has brought a different tone to Harmon's previous projects. Despite this, Harmon's role as co-creator and executive producer on Strange Planet provides a distinct opportunity for the Emmy winner. It remains unclear if Apple TV+ will renew the show for a second season, but considering the season 1's critical acclaim and the streamer's openness to experimental projects, there is hope that Harmon, Levari, and Pyle will have the chance to further expand this unique sci-fi webcomic. The season 1 finale of Strange Planet will premiere on Apple TV+ on Wednesday, September 27.
