On Wednesday, November 1, 2023, the Undead Unluck anime series announced the addition of new cast members. Yuki Kaji, known for his role as Shoto Todoroki in My Hero Academia, will be joining the series along with four other voice actors. Shueisha themselves released this latest news, stating that the new cast members will assume various roles in the upcoming weeks.

Premiering on Friday, October 6, 2023, on Japanese broadcast television, the Undead Unluck anime has become a highly popular series from the Fall 2023 lineup. Prior to its premiere, the series had an exclusive world premiere screening at the Shinjuku Piccadilly in Tokyo on Sunday, October 1.

The television anime adaptation of Yoshifumi Tozuka's original manga series, also known as The Undead Unluck, is produced by David Production. This studio is well-known for their television anime adaptation of Hirohiko Araki's JoJo's Bizarre Adventure manga series.

Yuki Kaji, known for his role as Shoto Todoroki in My Hero Academia, is among the several voice actors who will be joining the cast of the Undead Unluck anime. In this production, Kaji will portray the character Rip, while Toshiyuki Morikawa will voice Feng, Ikumi Hasegawa will voice Latla, Yasumoto Hiroki will voice Creed, and Murase Ayumu will voice Chikara.

These five actors will be joining the main cast which includes Moe Kahara as Fuuko Izumo, Yuichi Nakamura as Andy, Kenji Nomura as Void, and Natsuki Hanae as Shen. Additionally, the cast also features Aoi Yuki as Gina, Mariya Ise as Juiz, Rikiya Koyama as Billy, Rie Kugimiya as Tatiana, Nobuhiko Okamoto as Top, Koji Yusa as Nico, and Tomokazu Sugita as Apocalypse.

The main staff at David Production, known for producing the Fire Force anime, has come together once again for the series. Yuki Yaqse is taking on the role of director, while Hideyuki Morioka is responsible for designing the animated characters, and Kenichiro Suehiro is in charge of composing the music. The anime adaptation as a whole is being produced and planned by UNLIMITED PRODUCE from TMS Entertainment.

Originally debuting as a one-shot in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump in January 2019, Tozuka's manga later became a serialized version in January 2020. Viz Media started digitally publishing the manga in the same month, followed by print copies in May 2021. The manga is also available on Shueisha's free MANGA Plus service. TMS Entertainment describes the anime series in the following way:

"What happens when an unfortunate girl crosses paths with an immortal guy? Utter chaos! Exhausted from unintentionally causing death with her unique power called Unluck, Fuuko Izumo decides to end it all. However, when she encounters Andy, a man who desires death but cannot die, she discovers a new purpose to live—and he finds someone who can grant him the death he craves."
