Round8 Studio's upcoming action RPG, Lies of P, has already inspired a mod that accentuates its similarities to the popular game Bloodborne. The mod was developed after the game's demo was showcased at the 2023 Summer Game Fest, ahead of the game's release on Xbox Game Pass. Despite its focus on retelling the story of Pinocchio in a darker tone, Lies of P is primarily a soulslike game, with a Victorian horror setting that draws inevitable comparisons to Bloodborne.
A Bloodborne mod has been created for the Lies of P demo, expanding its similarity to FromSoftware's popular PS4 exclusive. The mod was developed by Garden of Eyes, a group known for modding Bloodborne features into Elden Ring. Despite initially labeling the Neowiz-published RPG as one of this year's most anticipated games, Lies of P prompted Garden of Eyes to experiment outside of their usual comfort zone. The group released their first Lies of P mod on June 14, which introduces Hunter weapons and armor from Bloodborne to the PC version of the demo. This mod is exclusively available to Garden of Eyes' Patreon supporters who have subscribed to the Hunter tier, priced at $5 a month. Along with access to the team's custom mod launcher and all of its content, subscribers can expect further expansions on the Bloodborne content pack for Lies of P in the future.
The early version of the mod offers potential to enhance the already substantial replay value of the demo. Although Hunter equipment fits seamlessly into Lies of P, Round8's upcoming title is far from a mere Bloodborne imitation. In fact, the demo exposes a unique twist on the soulslike formula by making one Bloodborne feature significantly more challenging. This evidence supports the notion that similarities between Lies of P and Bloodborne were unintentional, although Round8 acknowledges and embraces the honor of being compared to FromSoftware's 2015 hit. The Neowiz-owned studio is committed to delivering an experience that meets the rising expectations of the fandom.
Lies of P launches September 19 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
