Earn the rare Six Degrees of Schafer achievement in Brutal Legend on Xbox by participating in multiplayer mode with either Tim Schafer or a player who has already unlocked the achievement.
Double Fine has revealed that Tim Schafer will be taking part in matches today to celebrate the game's 14th anniversary, providing completionists with an opportunity to earn the achievement by facing off against Schafer himself.
In addition to the excitement surrounding the achievement event, fans are also curious about the possibility of a sequel to Brutal Legend. Double Fine responded by stating, "It would be an exciting prospect," suggesting that they have not discarded the idea of a sequel.
Xbox gamers are in luck as they have the chance to obtain one of the most coveted achievements, Six Degrees of Schafer, in the game Brutal Legend. This game played a significant role in Schafer's induction into the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences Hall of Fame earlier this year. It has become a cult classic among gamers and offers both single-player and multiplayer modes.
The highly sought-after achievement can only be obtained by engaging in the PvP aspect of the game. To unlock the exceptionally rare Six Degrees of Schafer achievement, players must participate in a multiplayer game and match with either Schafer himself or another player who has already earned the achievement. Brutal Legend is a real-time strategy game where players control Eddie Riggs, a roadie for a heavy metal band. The objective is to assist Riggs in his battle against supernatural creatures alongside fellow humans, using a combination of a battle axe and an electric guitar. Notably, Jack Black, the renowned actor, played Brutal Legend and recorded a Let's Play video on his YouTube channel, Jablinski Games, which has garnered over 4 million views since its release in 2019.
To celebrate the 14th anniversary of the game, Double Fine, the developer behind Brutal Legend and the critically acclaimed Psychonauts 2, announced on Twitter that Schafer, the game's director, would be participating in matches today. Fans were advised to keep an eye on social media for the specific times when Schafer would be playing, offering them the opportunity to match with him. This special event, known as Rocktober 13, offers completionists and those wishing to earn the achievement a chance to face off against Schafer himself.
While the achievement can be earned at any time during the year, fans are particularly excited as it's not every day they get to test their skills against the game's director. Schafer himself tweeted that players wanting to earn the achievement have a good chance of doing so by being matched with him, as he typically only wins "one match a year."
Following the event announcement, fans immediately began speculating about the possibility of a sequel to Brutal Legend. Double Fine addressed these inquiries in a tweet, stating, "It would be a cool thing." Although not a conclusive response, this, coupled with Schafer's previous statement at E3 2017 hinting at the potential of a sequel, gives fans reassurance that both Schafer and Double Fine remain committed to the idea. Brutal Legend is currently available on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.
