During a leisurely walk in Amsterdam, popular IRL Twitch streamer Jinnytty had an encounter with a pickpocket. IRL content creators like her are especially vulnerable to theft due to their tendency to be preoccupied with reading chat and providing commentary. Another IRL Twitch streamer, MeesterKeem, was also victimized by a pickpocket in February, but managed to promptly retrieve his wallet.
In 2022, Jinnytty emerged as one of the most popular female Twitch streamers, boasting a nearly one million strong following. This South Korean content creator has also made a name for herself by being nominated twice for The Streamer Awards in the category of Best IRL Streamer. Apart from her occasional Hearthstone gaming sessions, Jinnytty captivates her audience by taking them on virtual journeys to fascinating destinations across the globe. From the United States and Taiwan to her native Korea, as well as various European countries such as Poland, Norway, and the Netherlands, she has traversed the world through her live streams.
During her exploration of Amsterdam on July 21, Jinnytty paused for a brief conversation with two strangers who interacted with the Twitch chat in a friendly manner. Shortly after parting ways with them, a third individual approached her and informed her that he had witnessed the two men trying to pickpocket her while she was distracted. According to the man, the culprits had their hands inside Jinnytty's bag. Although she assured him that she did not keep any valuable items in her bag, the man reprimanded her for constantly looking at her phone and advised her against filming with people. He concluded by stating that Jinnytty should familiarize herself with such matters. Grateful for his input, the content creator expressed her gratitude and continued her journey.
Although the alleged pickpocketing attempt was not caught on camera, Jinny took a moment to inspect her bag and confirmed that she believed nothing had been stolen. She emphasized that her most prized possession is her phone, which she always holds and secures to her wrist with a lanyard. "I can't even have peaceful conversations or engage with people without worrying about the possibility of being pickpocketed," expressed the Twitch streamer.
Jinny expressed her confusion about the widespread issue of pickpocketing in Europe, particularly because she grew up in Korea. However, this is not the first time the streamer has encountered potential criminals. On a previous occasion in April 2023, while streaming on Twitch IRL in Taiwan, Jinnytty was followed by a suspicious man for approximately four hours. Despite his attempts to hide, viewers were able to occasionally spot him, and he was even once seen hiding behind a bush. Growing increasingly worried, Jinny eventually sought help from police officers, who detained the unidentified man.
