Boimler tends to panic, but he usually has good reason to in the crossover episode of Strange New Worlds. Getting flung through a time portal is genuinely terrifying. In the Port Galley, Lt. Erica Ortegas and Nurse Christine Chapel intentionally scared Boimler, and his life was at risk when his experiment with Spock went awry. Moreover, anyone would scream if they entered a shuttlecraft only to find Mariner sitting alone in the dark.
Jack Quaid's Boimler & Tawny Newsome's Mariner From Star Trek: Lower Decks Explained
Ensign Brad Boimler and Ensign Beckett Mariner, along with Ensign Samanthan Rutherford and Ensign D'Vana Tendi, serve as the co-leaders on the popular animated comedy Star Trek: Lower Decks. They are all junior Starfleet Officers assigned to the USS Cerritos, a California Class starship from the 24th century. Captain Carol Freeman, who happens to be Mariner's mother, commands the USS Cerritos. Boimler, hailing from a raisin farm in Modesto, California, found his calling in Starfleet after being inspired by a poster featuring Number One and her inspiring motto, "Ad Astra Per Aspera". Boimler possesses extensive knowledge about Starfleet history and aspires to become a starship Captain someday. Additionally, Boimler briefly served under the leadership of Captain Will Riker on the USS Titan. Interestingly, he also has a lookalike named William Boimler, who faked his death and joined Section 31.
Ensign Beckett Mariner, the daughter of Captain Carol Freeman and Admiral Alonzo Freeman (Phil LaMarr), comes from a Starfleet lineage. Despite her prestigious background, Mariner has chosen to forge her own path within Starfleet, rejecting the pursuit of command like her parents. Known for her rebellious nature and lack of discipline, Mariner possesses exceptional skills as a Starfleet Officer, with a captivating and untold career. With the return of both Boimler and Mariner to the Cerritos in Star Trek: Lower Decks season 4, which follows their appearance in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, the anticipation is high for what lies ahead, promising more excitement and surprises for fans. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 2 can be streamed on Paramount+ every Thursday.
