Unbelievable Discovery: Escape from Tarkov Player Uncovers Their Own Dog Tag

Despite a deadly encounter with a sniper, an ingenious Escape from Tarkov player remarkably retrieves their own dog tag by revisiting the exact location where they were fatally shot

A player in Escape from Tarkov has discovered their own dog tag. The collectible item was found at the exact location where the player was killed.

In this game, deceased players leave behind dog tags that can be obtained as items during raids. These tags act as mementos and provide valuable information about the fallen player, including their faction, time of death, and most importantly, the identity of their killer and the weapon used. Considered a symbolic reminder of mortality, these dog tags hold sentimental value for players and cannot be sold on the flea market.

Reddit user MichaelKCF was unfortunate enough to be one of the PMC casualties in Escape From Tarkov. However, he had a stroke of luck when he stumbled upon his own USEC dog tag as a Scav while revisiting the location where he was killed. MichaelKCF shared a video clip of his surprising discovery and examined the dog tag, revealing that he was eliminated by a player named Cross wielding an NSV "Utyos" heavy machine gun. While this specific weapon may not be among the top-tier choices in Escape From Tarkov, it still packed enough firepower to take down MichaelKCF.

MichaelKCF expressed that he had been attempting to retrieve his dog tag "for years," making this chance encounter all the more satisfying. Other players chimed in with their own experiences of reclaiming their gear and tags after dying as a Scav in Escape From Tarkov. It was noted that this task is easier to accomplish in servers with a lower player population. One player mentioned that they had managed to retrieve their belongings numerous times in the South Africa region, which becomes heavily populated at the start of a wipe but gradually empties out during the mid to late stages.

Another player also mentioned the effectiveness of the low-population strategy on certain menacing maps in Escape From Tarkov, particularly Interchange. In the meantime, other players expressed their curiosity about MichaelKCF's Scav loadout. In response, the poster explained that, given the end of a wipe, they were experimenting with unique combinations for amusement since there weren't many other tasks to accomplish.

Escape From Tarkov is currently in its Early Access phase on PC.
