The 2030 men's FIFA World Cup, marking the tournament's 100-year anniversary, will be hosted across six countries on three continents, as announced by FIFA

The 2030 FIFA World Cup will be held across six countries in three different continents to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the inaugural tournament, as announced by FIFA, the governing body of soccer, on Wednesday.

Spain, Portugal, and Morocco will collaborate as co-hosts for the tournament, with Uruguay, Paraguay, and Argentina each hosting an opening match as a tribute to the centennial anniversary of the first World Cup, which was hosted and won by Uruguay in 1930.

"FIFA President Gianni Infantino stated that in a world plagued by division, FIFA and football are working towards unity. The FIFA Council, which represents the global football community, has come to a unanimous decision to commemorate the centenary of the FIFA World Cup. This prestigious tournament had its inaugural edition in Uruguay back in 1930, and it is crucial to mark this occasion in the most fitting manner."

Infantino further revealed, "The FIFA Council has unanimously agreed that the combined bid from Morocco, Portugal, and Spain will be the exclusive host for the FIFA World Cup 2030."

In 2030, the continents of Africa, Europe, and South America will come together to celebrate the beautiful game and promote peace, tolerance, and inclusion. This unique global event will be hosted by six countries - Argentina, Morocco, Paraguay, Portugal, Spain, and Uruguay - marking the centenary of the FIFA World Cup.

All six teams will directly qualify for the 48-team tournament. FIFA has confirmed that the inaugural match of the tournament will take place at the Estádio Centenário in Montevideo, which is also the historic venue where the first ever final of the tournament was held.

In 2030, Morocco will have the honor of hosting the World Cup for the first time, making them the first North African team to host official matches.
