Tyga has taken a step forward in his ongoing legal dispute with ex Blac Chyna by requesting sole custody of their 11-year-old son, King Cairo.
According to various sources, the rapper (real name Michael Ray Stevenson), who is 33 years old, is seeking both physical and legal custody of their child, whom they welcomed in 2012. In his legal documents, Tyga also included a request for Chyna, who is 35 years old (real name Angela White), to be granted "reasonable visitation" rights and for their current holiday schedule to remain unchanged. He also asked for written permission to be required if Chyna wants to take their son out of state.
Chyna had previously filed a legal petition seeking joint custody of King Cairo, in a case referred to as the "petition to determinate parental relationship." Based on court documents obtained by The Blast on August 25, it was revealed that Tyga takes care of their child for the majority of days in a typical week.
In response to Chyna's petition, Tyga made derogatory remarks about his ex-partner on social media. On August 26, in the comments section of an Instagram post regarding the case, he wrote, "After 10 years... nah, stick to your scheduled time from Saturday to Monday."
Chyna claimed in recently obtained court documents that Tyga has been disregarding the agreed-upon custody schedule established for them as co-parents following their separation in 2014. She stated in her declaration, filed on October 2, that in January 2021, Tyga had King for two consecutive weekends without informing her of his decision. This pattern repeated the following month, leaving Chyna unaware of her son's whereabouts for several weeks. Feeling powerless without court orders, Chyna refrained from seeking legal intervention due to potential media scrutiny and the negative impact it could have on King. Consequently, she chose to remain silent.

The star of The Special Forces: World's Toughest Test also accused Tyga of modifying their custody schedule in early 2022, resulting in reduced time for King Cairo with her and his half-sister, Dream, aged 6, whom she shares with her ex-fiancé Rob Kardashian. Chyna requested that her son stay with her after school on Fridays until the start of school on Mondays (or from 8 a.m. on Fridays until 4 p.m. on Mondays when school is not in session.)
In addition to her other allegations, Chyna claimed that Tyga abruptly stopped all direct communication with her in 2019 and refused to provide her with his current phone number and address, which raised concerns about their son's whereabouts.
I am urging the Court to issue an order directing [Tyga] and me to communicate through [the app] OurFamilyWizard and regularly check the application every twenty-four (24) hours. Additionally, [Tyga] and I should exchange our current contact information, which will be solely utilized for emergency purposes. Furthermore, I request that we both share the details of any third-party caretakers responsible for our son.
Chyna spoke positively about her coparenting relationships with both Tyga and Kardashian before their custody battle. In an interview with the Daily Mail in March, she stated that there was no bad blood or negativity between them. She acknowledged that they were two individuals on different paths, but their paths crossed and resulted in their children.
She went on to claim that she brings “positive vibes” as a coparent, adding, “Everything’s calm, there’ll be no more situations.”
