Trick-or-Treat Weather: Halloween Temperatures to Give You Chills

Get ready for a bone-chilling Halloween! As a cold front looms, frosty temperatures are set to sweep across parts of the US, promising an unforgettable trick-or-treating experience for Halloween enthusiasts

Trick-or-treaters this Halloween will be shocked as a blast of cold air sweeps down from Canada into the US, causing temperatures to rapidly drop. While this high pressure system will ensure dry conditions for many, it will also introduce unexpected cold air to those in the South and East who recently experienced warmer weather over the weekend.

By Halloween, temperatures will be below-average across much of the country, save for the West Coast.

Temperatures in parts of the already frigid Northern Plains are expected to decrease starting on Saturday. The cold weather will persist, bringing bone-chilling temperatures in the 20s and 30s that will be widespread on Halloween night.

In Bismarck, North Dakota, where the temperature is expected to reach a high of only 27 degrees, costumes might require additional layers. This is more reminiscent of mid-December rather than late October. When factoring in the wind chill, it will feel even colder, like the mid-teens.

By Sunday, the cold weather will extend to the Midwest and Central Plains, resulting in frosty conditions and significantly cooler temperatures that will persist until Tuesday. Cities such as Kansas City and Chicago may struggle to reach temperatures in the 40s on Halloween day.

The mid-Atlantic and Southeast are in for a frigid Halloween as the cold air sweeps in. On Monday, Birmingham, Alabama, is expected to have a high temperature of around 80 degrees. However, within just 24 hours, the mercury will plummet, and the daytime temperature will top out at a mere 58 degrees.

The Southeast will experience mild and predominantly dry weather, while other regions of the country are not as fortunate. As temperatures decline, the Great Lakes region could witness a few snowflakes on Halloween. Erie, Pennsylvania, and Cleveland may encounter snow from Tuesday evening into Wednesday.

Possible scattered showers may disrupt Halloween plans in parts of the mid-Atlantic region extending southward to Tennessee until Tuesday evening. Conversely, the West Coast can expect a fortunate Halloween as temperatures ranging from the 50s to mid-70s, along with no rain, provide favorable conditions.
