Travis Barker revealed in a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times that the public's perception of Kourtney Kardashian and her sisters is not the complete picture. The Blink-182 drummer, 47, expressed his frustration with fans taking some time to realize that he is the same Travis who is in a relationship with Kardashian, 44, and is also a drummer in Blink.
"Yeah, that's what I do. I am a drummer. Being a celebrity does not define me or Kourtney," he stated. "She is very unique compared to her sisters." Kourtney, the oldest among her five siblings, is followed by Kim Kardashian, Khloé Kardashian, Rob Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, and Kylie Jenner.
Barker further attributed his and Kourtney's marriage to aiding his recovery from the trauma of a plane crash in 2008, which claimed the lives of four people and resulted in third-degree burns on 65 percent of his body. "I believe that love played a significant role in my healing process," he revealed. "Kourtney has allowed me and my children to soar. She has healed us."
In April 2021, Kourtney brought her then-boyfriend on his first flight since the accident, along with her mom, Kris Jenner, and Kris' boyfriend, Corey Gamble. They traveled from Los Angeles to Cabo, Mexico on a private jet. One year later, he flew again for their wedding ceremony in Portofino, Italy in May 2022. This was featured in the Hulu special Til Death Do Us Part.
The couple's nuptials caused a feud between Kourtney and Kim, who is 43 years old. Four months after Kourtney's wedding, she accused Kim of using the wedding as a "business opportunity" because Kim collaborated with the fashion label for a Milan Fashion Week project in September 2022.
Kim responded to Kourtney's accusations by clarifying that she did not choose any of the items Kourtney wore at the wedding for their collaboration. She also drew attention to the similarities between Kourtney's wedding and her own overseas nuptials with ex-husband Kanye West in 2014.
"I got married in Italy. Are you implying that you copied me by also getting married in Italy? Guess who performed at my wedding? Andrea Bocelli. And guess who performed at Kourtney's wedding? Andrea Bocelli," Kim angrily asserted during a confessional in a July episode of The Kardashians. "You took both my wedding destination and my wedding performer. Andrea Bocelli is my all-time favorite male singer, yet I'm the one supposedly copying your Dolce Vita lifestyle?"
Eventually, the sisters reconciled during the show's October 12 episode when Kourtney reached out to Kim by sending her a picture of their late father, Robert Kardashian, during his college years.
However, fans have persistently speculated that Barker contributed to the ongoing feud between the pair, citing his description of Kim as "hot" in his 2015 memoir, Can I Say.
Barker dismissed these speculations as "ridiculous" during his interview with the Los Angeles Times. He emphasized that he shared those details as a means of personal healing and moving forward. Barker further explained that as Kim's sister, she was aware of their previous conversations and clarified that nothing untoward was transpiring between them. He went on to express his exasperation with how people take small bits of information and assume they have unlocked the mystery behind the feud.
