Liverpool has designated Virgil van Dijk as their newly appointed captain, with Trent Alexander-Arnold assuming the role of vice-captain in light of Jordan Henderson and James Milner's departures. Henderson held the captaincy for a significant period of eight years after Steven Gerrard's departure in 2015. However, when he transferred to the Saudi Pro League team Al Ettifaq in July, where Gerrard is currently coaching, he relinquished the captain's armband.

Following the conclusion of his contract with Liverpool, Milner's transfer to Brighton resulted in the vice-captain position at Anfield becoming vacant. The notable choice to fill this role was Alexander-Arnold, an academy graduate.

Van Dijk expressed his immense pride and joy for himself, his wife, children, and his family as he discussed his appointment as the captain of Liverpool. Being the captain of Holland was already a tremendous honor, but being bestowed with the captaincy of Liverpool left him speechless.

I take great pride in my accomplishments and I am fully committed to ensuring both the satisfaction and happiness of everyone associated with me and the football club. Since joining Liverpool in 2018, I have amassed over 200 appearances and achieved numerous titles including the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup, UEFA Super Cup, Club World Cup, and Community Shield.

Fabinho is the second senior midfielder to leave Liverpool for Saudi Arabia this summer, following Henderson's transfer to Al Ettifaq. Since joining Liverpool from Monaco in 2019, Fabinho has made over 200 appearances and has achieved success by winning the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup, and UEFA Super Cup.

Jurgen Klopp has made significant changes to his midfield during the summer transfer window, bringing in Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai to address the void created by the absence of Henderson and Fabinho.

Additionally, Liverpool has expressed a keen interest in signing Southampton's Romeo Lavia.
