Manchester City is currently engaged in discussions with Rennes regarding a potential agreement for the transfer of winger Jeremy Doku. In light of the recent sale of Riyad Mahrez to Saudi Arabian team Al Ahli for £30m, City is actively seeking another forward, and Doku has emerged as a top candidate to fill the void left by the Algerian player.
The 21-year-old Belgian player has attracted interest from several Premier League teams this summer. West Ham had a bid turned down by Rennes for Doku earlier this month, but it is unlikely that they will make another offer after City's interest.
Doku has already found the net in his initial two matches for Rennes during this season and managed to score six goals in the previous Ligue 1 campaign.
After the signings of Josko Gvardiol and Mateo Kovacic, both of whom were acquired for a total of £107.6m, Doku has the potential to become City's third significant addition this summer.
City's Paqueta talks on hold amid betting investigation
City's talks with West Ham over the signing of Lucas Paqueta are on hold amid concerns surrounding an FA and FIFA betting investigation.
The investigation is focused on the booking incidents involving Paqueta during games in Brazil. As a result, the 25-year-old will be absent from his country's World Cup qualifiers against Peru and Bolivia in September. In the previous season, he received nine bookings for both his club and the national team.
Paqueta, eager to assist in any investigation, asserts that he has not personally made any wagers and is profoundly stunned by the allegations.
A potential £80m agreement for Paqueta's transfer to Man City is on the verge of being finalized and remains a possibility provided that the matter is promptly resolved.
Paqueta remains committed to playing for West Ham and showcased his talent by converting a crucial penalty during their triumphant 3-1 victory against Chelsea on Sunday. The FA and Man City have chosen not to provide any comments, while We News has reached out to FIFA for their response.
PSG give up Silva pursuit

Man City's Bernardo Silva had been a PSG target this summer
Paris Saint-Germain has abandoned their pursuit of Manchester City's Bernardo Silva for the summer transfer window. Despite the 29-year-old being a prime target for the French champions, they have come to terms with the fact that he is not available for purchase and fully acknowledge and respect this decision.
It is expected that the Portugal international will sign a new contract with City, as Silva still has two years remaining on his current deal with the club. On Saturday, City manager Pep Guardiola expressed his "dream" of seeing both Silva and Kyle Walker extend their contracts with the team.
PSG sporting director Luis Campos knows Silva well and they worked together at Monaco.

The clubs have reached a £25m agreement for the 29-year-old player, who transferred from Athletic Bilbao to City for £57m in January 2018.
Following the agreement, the Spaniard is scheduled to undergo a medical examination, and the terms of a three-year contract are prepared for signing.
