Three individuals were killed and two others were wounded in a shooting that took place in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada early Sunday morning, according to law enforcement officials. The Winnipeg Police Service announced in a press release that the incident occurred shortly after 4 a.m., located nearly a mile west of the downtown area.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered five victims with injuries indicating they had been shot, as stated in the release.
Constable Jason Michalyshen, a spokesperson for the Winnipeg police, mentioned in a statement that the incident took place in a multi-suite residence and no additional information about a potential motive is currently available.
A man and a woman were pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Three of the victims were taken to a hospital, and one of those victims later died of his injuries.
The students, who all attend American colleges and universities, are receiving medical treatment for gunshot injuries.
