Four foreign nationals and three Afghans were injured in the attack when gunmen opened fire. Reuters reported that four people have been arrested.
A Spanish person is also among the wounded, according to a Spanish diplomatic source who spoke to CNN.
The Spanish diplomatic source mentioned on Friday that Spain’s Foreign Ministry is collaborating with its Emergency Consular Unit to investigate the situation, assist those impacted, and reach out to their families.
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez referred to the Spanish shooting victims as tourists in a post on X.
The prime minister expressed his concern about the recent news of the murder of Spanish tourists in Afghanistan. He mentioned that the Emergency Consular Unit of the Spanish Foreign Ministry is actively providing assistance to the affected individuals. He also extended his sympathy to the families and friends of the victims.
Qani, on the other hand, offered his condolences for the tragic deaths. He strongly denounced the crime and assured that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan is committed to finding and punishing all those responsible for the heinous act.
Australia's Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade confirmed on Saturday that they are assisting an Australian citizen who was injured in the attack in Afghanistan.
