Italian fashion designer Davide Renne, who recently became the creative director for Moschino, has tragically passed away at the age of 46. This sad news was confirmed by Aeffe SpA, the parent company of the brand, in a press release. Renne had only assumed his position at Moschino on November 1 before his untimely death on November 10.
"We are overwhelmed with pain during this tragic period," stated Massimo Ferretti, chairman of Aeffe SpA. "Just a few days ago, Davide joined our team, but an unexpected illness abruptly took him away from us. It is still unimaginable to accept what has occurred."
Rennes had been appointed as the new creative director for Moschino, and their debut collection was originally set to premiere at Milan Fashion in February 2024. Formerly leading the womenswear division at Gucci, Rennes was chosen to take over from Jeremy Scott, who had overseen the brand for the previous ten years.
"What fashion, especially Italian fashion, and in particular, the house of Moschino, can accomplish with its immense influence should be achieved with a sense of playfulness and delight," Renne expressed in a statement upon his appointment. "I am grateful to Mr. Ferretti for entrusting me with the opportunity to explore his creative realm. I am eagerly looking forward to starting this new chapter."
After a decade of creating whimsical and trendy fashion inspired by popular culture, Jeremy Scott bids farewell to Moschino.
Ferretti praised Rennes' magnetic and innovative energy in the press release announcing his passing. "Despite his brief time here, Davide quickly endeared himself to us and earned our utmost respect. We now bear the responsibility of continuing the visionary ideas and creative spirit he had imagined. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family and friends."
