The incident occurred during the second period of the Challenge Cup match against the Sheffield Steelers on Saturday, when Johnson sustained a severe neck injury following a collision with a player from Sheffield.

The Panthers participate in the Elite Ice Hockey League, England's premier league for ice hockey. The league recently declared the postponement of all Sunday games, following the distressing events that took place the previous Saturday. In a statement, the league expressed its concern, urging everyone to prioritize their well-being and look out for one another.

Forward Johnson, originally from Hibbing, Minnesota, embarked on his professional journey in the American Hockey League. He swiftly advanced to the NHL, joining the Pittsburgh Penguins and contributing to 13 games over a span of two years, accumulating a total of four points.

Notably, in October 2019, Johnson showcased his prowess by scoring a goal in the Penguins' triumphant 7-4 victory over the Minnesota Wild.

He also played in Sweden and Germany before joining the Panthers for the 2023-24 season.
