The Netherlands Royal Military police shared on social media platform X that the incident occurred on the airport platform. The person fell into the running aircraft engine, resulting in the tragic outcome.
The police added that they are investigating the circumstances of the incident.
It is not clear whether the person was a passenger or an employee.
Passengers were on board the aircraft bound for Billund, in central Denmark, when the fatal incident occurred, a statement from air carrier KLM said.

The passengers and employees got off the plane and received assistance from the military police.
KLM mentioned on Wednesday, "We are providing support to the passengers and employees who were present during the incident at Schiphol."

The tragic event took place when the Airbus A319 was being moved in reverse from the parking bay to get ready for taxiing, as per an Air India official. The engineer who passed away was overseeing the procedure while standing close to the landing gear beneath the plane's nose.
