The statement mentioned that the athlete was assisted by fellow athletes towards the end of the swim at Main Beach in Noosa Heads before being removed from the water. It expressed condolences to the family and friends of the athlete and offered ongoing support.

We express our gratitude to the athletes who stopped to offer assistance, as well as the first responders and medical personnel who promptly provided medical support to the athlete.

Despite the unfortunate incident, this year's event carried on. The elite women's race was triumphantly won by Ashleigh Gentle from Australia, while Hayden Wilde from New Zealand claimed victory in the men's category.
