The EFL has announced that the abandoned League One match between Leyton Orient and Lincoln, caused by a medical emergency in the crowd, will be replayed in its entirety. During the game at Brisbane Road on Tuesday October 3, lifelong Orient fan Derek Reynolds, aged 74, tragically passed away after falling ill. At the time of the incident, the hosts were leading 1-0 thanks to an early goal from Joe Pigott.
According to a statement released on Monday afternoon, the board has taken into account all relevant factors pertaining to the decision made by the match officials and club stadium staff during the event. After carefully considering the options available within the regulations, the board has determined that rescheduling the fixture in its entirety is the most reasonable course of action. The clubs will announce a new date for the game in the near future.

During the match, a fan sprinted onto the field towards referee Stephen Martin, seeking to highlight the fact that a member of the public required immediate medical attention in the East Stand.
Shortly thereafter, the game resumed for less than a minute before approximately 20 fans took a seat on the pitch at the home end to bring the ongoing medical emergency to the referee's attention, resulting in the game being stopped.

Leyton Orient supporters occupied the pitch aiming to halt the match against Lincoln. Upon observing paramedics administering CPR to someone alongside the pitch, the referee suspended the game and escorted the teams off the field.
The match was abandoned in the 82nd minute, an hour after the initial stoppage occurred and, as the fans left the ground, the medical teams were still attending to the patient.

At the weekend, Leyton Orient posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, that Lincoln had added a brick with Reynolds' name on it to their memorial wall at the LNER Stadium.
