Taraja Ramsess, a renowned stuntman, actor, and martial artist who made significant contributions to the "Black Panther" and "Avengers" films, tragically lost his life along with three of his children in a car accident in Georgia last week. At the age of 41, he leaves behind a legacy that will be deeply mourned.
The crash occurred shortly before midnight on Halloween when the vehicle carrying Ramsess and his children collided with a broken-down tractor trailer in the left lane of an exit off the interstate, as reported by Atlanta TV station WSB-TV. In an Instagram post, Akili Ramsess, Ramsess' mother and executive director of the National Press Photographers Association (NPPA), announced the tragic deaths of Ramsess and two of his daughters.
"My dear, adoring, gifted son Taraja @chop.saki, along with two of my precious grandchildren - his 13-year-old daughter Sundari and his 8-week-old newborn daughter Fujibo - tragically lost their lives in a devastating car crash last night," she expressed.
She further mentioned the fortunate survival of two of Ramsess' daughters in the accident. His three-year-old, Shazia, is currently receiving medical care at the hospital, while his 10-year-old son, Kisasi, is fighting for his life on a ventilator," she revealed.
In a subsequent post, she shared that Kisasi had also died.
His long-time friend and X3 Sports trainer Tony Tucci told WSB-TV, "When I first heard about it, I broke down. I had to sit down."
"He was known for being a devoted family man," Tucci stated. "His family would often join him during training sessions, eagerly participating alongside him."
Acclaimed filmmaker Ava DuVernay, who was also a close friend, took to her Instagram account to express her sorrow over the heartbreaking news.
"He had an immense adoration for his children, a love that was pure and fulfilling. It was a joyous and complete affection to witness," she expressed. "Not only did he have a deep passion for creating movies and TV shows, but he also had a diverse range of roles throughout the years. He fully immersed himself in every aspect of his craft."
Ramsess' remarkable contributions encompass notable films like "Avengers: End Game," "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever," "Creed III," "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire," and the upcoming series "She-Hulk: Attorney at Law."
