Grimsby Town's promising young soccer player, Cameron Walsh, has tragically passed away at the age of 16 following a car accident that ended in a canal. The club has expressed their devastation over his loss, describing him as a vital member of the GTFC academy in a statement on their website.
His love for the game, together with his exceptional skill, endeared him to teammates, coaches, and the entire Grimsby Town community.
"We are keeping them in our thoughts and prayers as they cope with the pain and sorrow of this tragedy."
Lincolnshire Police told CNN that they do not disclose the names of individuals involved in fatal collisions. However, the local and national media identified the individuals as Cameron and his father, Dave Walsh.
Cleethorpes Town, the amateur football club where both Cameron and Dave played, honored the father and son with a tribute.
Cleethorpes praised Dave, a former player and junior manager, as a "wonderful person" who had "countless joyful moments" while coaching his son's team.
Cameron served as Cleethorpes Town's mascot in the 2017 FA Vase final against South Shields at Wembley Stadium, with the club stating that he would always be "a significant part of our history."
Two individuals were declared deceased at the location of the incident on Saturday following the vehicle they were occupying veering off the road and submerging in water at Tetney Lock in Lincolnshire, eastern England.

The police reported that local ambulance, fire, and rescue teams were also present at the scene. Grimsby Town, a team in the fourth tier of English football, announced that they will honor Cameron and his father at their next home game on Saturday, January 13.
