Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that a shop near the eastern city of Kupiansk was hit by a Russian artillery strike, resulting in the tragic loss of at least 48 lives. Oleh Synehubov, the Head of the Kharkiv region military administration, confirmed that Russian forces targeted a cafe and shop in the village of Grozna within the Kupiansk district.
Writing on Telegram, Synebuhov reported that a cafe and a shop in the village of Groza, Kupiansk district, were targeted by Russian shelling today at approximately 13:15. The incident occurred in an area populated with numerous civilians.
"Efforts by rescuers are ongoing at the location. Up until this moment, the remains of 48 individuals, including a 6-year-old boy, have been recovered from the debris."
Six individuals, one of whom is a child, sustained injuries, and medical professionals are currently attending to their needs. Ongoing rescue operations are taking place at the location.
Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, who is currently visiting Spain, denounced the incident as a blatantly heinous act committed by Russia. He described it as a deliberate terrorist attack, involving a rocket strike on an ordinary grocery store.
Zelensky stated that it is imperative to halt Russian terrorism. He deemed anyone aiding Russia in bypassing sanctions as a criminal. Furthermore, he proclaimed that anyone who continues to support Russia is endorsing malevolence. Zelensky asserted that Russia's sole objective in carrying out such terrorist acts is to normalize their genocidal aggression on a global scale.
