Remnant 2 features an abundance of bosses, each with their own distinct abilities aimed at eliminating threats and keeping players on their toes. One particular boss, Yaesha's Root Nexus, adheres to the popular Soulslike genre by surprising players with an intense combat encounter, despite initially appearing vulnerable and defenseless.
Unlike other bosses, the Root Nexus doesn't directly attack players to defend itself. Instead, it exposes itself to be vulnerable to an assault. What sets this boss apart is its ability to summon a protective force, deviating from the conventional strong offensive tactics typically employed by boss-type adversaries. Here are some valuable tips to help players overcome this deceptively challenging opponent.
Tips for Beating the Root Nexus
Be Prepared
Before players encounter the Root Nexus in Yaesha, they should make sure to replenish their consumables and restore their health. This is important because traversing much of Yaesha before reaching the creature can deplete their ammunition, health, and relics. Given the immense challenge that awaits, it is advisable for players to be fully prepared before engaging with the creature.
Favor Melee Attacks
Luckily, the Root Nexus is conveniently located right next to a checkpoint, allowing players to recharge their characters and approach the upcoming battle fully equipped. It is crucial to prioritize visiting the checkpoint before engaging in combat, as once the fight starts, the checkpoint will no longer be accessible.
Unlike most bosses in Remnant 2, the Root Nexus is constantly vulnerable to attack, making it relatively easy to cause damage. However, the true challenge lies in overcoming its minions.
Since ammunition is scarce, it is advisable to use firearms only on the various Root beasts that appear to defend the Nexus. On the other hand, a flurry of melee attacks is highly effective against the Nexus itself, without depleting the player's bullet supply. In fact, melee attacks are the most damaging due to the Nexus' fleshy exterior and lack of armor. Therefore, engaging in close-quarters combat is the best strategy for swiftly defeating the creature while conserving resources.
Don't Be Too Aggressive
Rather than mindlessly attacking the Root Nexus in Yaesha, players should be aware of the consequences this action carries. When the Nexus reaches certain health thresholds, it will summon increasingly formidable minions to defend itself. Therefore, if players focus too much on the Nexus and inflict significant damage, they may quickly become overwhelmed by the sheer number of Root creatures that emerge to safeguard their master.
The most efficient approach to dealing with this boss is exercising patience. In order to tackle this daunting task effectively, it is advisable to inflict smaller increments of damage to the Nexus and take down the waves of Root creatures as they arise. Once that is accomplished, focus on resuming the assault on the Nexus.
Use the Space Available
There are numerous open areas surrounding the Root Nexus where players can take advantage. Stepping away from the boss and utilizing these fields can prove beneficial. The location of the Root Nexus can quickly become congested, increasing the difficulty of managing the onslaught of Root creatures. Therefore, temporarily retreating to the more spacious parts of the map can lead to a more effective combat strategy.
The protectors of the Root Nexus possess varying sizes, strengths, and attack styles, including both short and long-range maneuvers. Being in an unobstructed area will assist players in successfully evading incoming strikes and maintaining a safe distance from the more formidable foes. Once the creatures are vanquished, players can easily return to the Root Nexus to inflict additional damage.
