During an interview with CBS News on Sunday, May 5, Selleck, who is 79 years old, expressed his belief that CBS will reconsider their decision. He pointed out that Blue Bloods is the third highest scripted show on all of broadcast television and continues to win the night. Additionally, Selleck mentioned that the entire cast is eager to return for another season.
Selleck confidently stated that Blue Bloods is not declining in quality or viewership. He emphasized that the show is still delivering strong performances and maintaining its position in the television landscape.

Alongside him, the show also starred Donnie Wahlberg as Detective Danny Reagan, Bridget Moynahan as Erin Reagan, Will Estes as Sergeant Jamie Reagan, and Len Cariou as Henry Reagan.
In November 2023, CBS announced their decision to end Blue Bloods after 14 seasons. Following this news, Tom Selleck released a statement paying tribute to the series.
"It has been a privilege to work on a show that celebrates the men and women who protect and serve in New York City, while also highlighting the importance of family," Selleck shared with The Hollywood Reporter. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to work with talented actors, writers, producers, directors, and crew for over 275 episodes. Selleck also thanked CBS Studios and the CBS network for their unwavering support, as well as the dedicated fans who tuned in every Friday night.
Despite efforts from the cast and fans to keep the show going, CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach confirmed its conclusion earlier this month.
