Soccer icon Wayne Rooney has been appointed as the new manager of Birmingham City, the English club in which NFL legend Tom Brady holds a minority stake.
After parting ways with Major League Soccer (MLS) team D.C. United by mutual agreement on Sunday, Rooney wasted no time in returning to the managerial role to collaborate with the esteemed NFL player.
Earlier this year, Brady joined a partnership to become a minority owner of Birmingham City and was named the chairman of a new advisory board.

The former England and Manchester United striker has signed a three-and-a-half year contract with Birmingham City. He will be accompanied by former United teammates Ashley Cole and John O'Shea, who will join his coaching staff. Birmingham City co-owner Tom Wagner expressed his belief that Wayne, as a natural winner, will lead the Blues to the next phase of their journey with the support of his coaching staff, the club, and the fans.
"His playing philosophy will help to realise the ambitions we have set for Birmingham City."
Birmingham sacked its previous manager John Eustace on Monday, after just 15 months in charge.
The team currently sits sixth in the table, just inside the playoff positions.

Rooney expressed his immense joy in joining the club, as he strives to further develop his managerial journey.
This marks Rooney's third managerial role, previously serving at Derby County and DC United. Notably, it is also the first appointment made by Birmingham City's fresh ownership group.
"It is evident that their determination to fulfill their club's ambitions is unwavering. We share a complete understanding of the expectations," Rooney stated.
"Through immersing myself into demanding scenarios, I have been actively preparing to venture into managerial roles. This project instills in me a profound sense of purpose, and I eagerly anticipate its commencement."
Brady, a minority owner in the club, was seen attending a Birmingham City game in August and even took the time to meet fans at a local pub.
No public comment has been made by Brady regarding Rooney's appointment.
