Blackburn's Dilan Markanday hit the post, but Sunderland displayed more composure in the second half. Clarke, in particular, stood out as the game's standout player. With 12 minutes remaining, he skillfully created an opportunity to score his fifth goal of the season from close range, ensuring victory for his team.
It capped a happy return to Ewood Park for former manager Tony Mowbray, whose side made it three successive victories.

Flemming, who was excluded from the starting line-up for The Lions in their 3-0 loss to Leeds on Sunday, made a comeback and increased his team's score in the 58th minute.
In second-half stoppage time, Millwall sealed a resounding performance with a goal from Tom Bradshaw, capitalizing on a deflected long-range shot to make it 3-0.
Watford and West Brom share spoils
Watford and West Brom played out a 2-2 draw with all four goals at a wet Vicarage Road coming in the first 23 minutes.

Huddersfield drew 2-2 with Stoke in Neil Warnock's final game in charge.
The town declared that Tuesday's Championship game would mark Warnock's final match with the club. In the first half, the 74-year-old witnessed his team take the lead through Matty Pearson's header. However, their advantage was short-lived as Daniel Johnson swiftly scored Stoke's first away goal of the season.
The Potters took the lead in the 62nd minute thanks to Ben Wilmot, but Jack Rudoni swiftly equalized for the hosts. However, Huddersfield was unable to score again, denying Warnock a victorious farewell.
