The reunion of the cast of Three Men and a Baby, titled Three Granddads and a Baby, has been rumored more than 25 years after the original 1987 comedy. Starring Tom Selleck, Steve Guttenberg, and Ted Danson, the film follows the story of New York bachelors whose lives are changed by the unexpected arrival of an infant.
Not only was it a huge hit, but it was also the top-grossing film of the year in the US, surpassing the success of Fatal Attraction and Beverly Hills Cop 2. A sequel, Three Men and a Little Lady, was also produced, reuniting the main trio and introducing Robin Weisman as a five-year-old Mary who moves to the UK with her mother.
Although a reboot featuring Zac Efron has been in the works for years, it seems that the original stars have now returned for a third installment. But is it really going to happen?
Is Three Granddads and a Baby real?
No, Three Granddads and a Baby isn’t happening.
YODA BBY ABY: Facebook page, known for spreading false rumors about The NeverEnding Story sequel and Police Academy reboot, recently posted a fabricated poster featuring Selleck, Guttenberg, and Danson with a 2024 release date – but it's completely untrue.
Three Granddads and a Baby starring Steve Guttenberg, Tom Selleck, and Ted Danson will bring heartwarming laughs to theaters in June 2024. When their daughter’s career takes off, these granddads hilariously navigate diapers, bedtime stories, and unexpected chaos. The release date for the Three Men and a Baby reboot is currently unknown, with a third entry briefly considered in 2010 titled Three Men and a Bride.
"I hope it's a good script, and if it is I hope they do it. It would be really fun to get back with Ted and Steve. I think the first movie is the strongest of the two. It had more heart, and I hope this third one will have that too if we do it," Selleck shared with MTV (as per Digital Spy).
Efron's movie was announced in 2020 and is planned for an exclusive release on Disney+, directed by Mo Marable. In 2022, he told The Hollywood Reporter: "Well, here's what I will say. I mean, I'm trying not to do anything that doesn't speak to what's going on in society today. When you go back and watch the original Three Men and a Baby, you realize that times have changed."
Zac Efron is still set to star in the lead role, and we are currently finalizing the script. I'm not interested in creating a Manhattan-based story; I want to tell a story set in Brooklyn. The focus will be on three guys who are not portrayed as stereotypically foolish as in the past. The cast will be intentionally diverse, and we will await Disney's feedback on the script in the next six to seven weeks.
Unfortunately, the movie has yet to be produced, and it remains uncertain if it will ever come to fruition.

As a Gen Z netizen, I grew up watching classic movies like "Three Men and a Baby" with my parents. The news of a potential sequel, "Three Granddads and a Baby," initially excited me. However, upon further research, I discovered that the rumors were false, and there are no plans for a reunion of the original cast. This news left me disappointed, as I would have loved to see the beloved characters from my childhood return to the big screen.
Despite the disappointment, I understand the importance of maintaining the integrity of classic films and not rushing into sequels simply for the sake of nostalgia. I believe that if a "Three Granddads and a Baby" movie were to be made, it would need to have a strong script and a compelling story that resonates with modern audiences. It would be crucial to strike a balance between paying homage to the original while also bringing something new and fresh to the table.
