Article Overview
Loki's redemption arc continues in season 2 as he becomes a hero and takes on the mission of saving the multiverse, a destiny that Thor failed to achieve.
Loki's actions in his own series have the potential to fulfill a prophecy in which Thor was destined to restore order to the Nine Realms. By bringing stability and peace to the cosmos, Loki has the opportunity to become a true hero within the Marvel Cinematic Universe and claim the role of the one who saved the destiny that Thor was unable to.
Tom Hiddleston's portrayal of the God of Mischief, Loki, has the potential to fulfill the destiny that his adoptive brother, Thor, was unable to achieve due to his actions in Phase 5's Loki season 2. Since his debut as the menacing villain in 2011's Thor, Hiddleston's Loki has had a remarkable journey in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Despite Loki's demise at the hands of Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, a different version of him managed to escape during the Avengers' Time Heist in Endgame, embarking on a new adventure. The first season of Loki in 2021 focused on his redemption, which has only been amplified in the second season in 2023.
In the original version of Loki, he underwent a redemption arc in 2017's Thor: Ragnarok, ultimately becoming a hopeful ally to his brother after Thor assumed the throne of Asgard following its destruction. Unfortunately, Loki died shortly after this pivotal moment. However, in Phase 4's Loki season 1, a variant of the God of Mischief went through another redemption arc after witnessing his entire life unfold in the Time Variance Authority (TVA). In season 2, Loki has transformed into a hero, potentially taking on the destiny that Thor never managed to fulfill in the MCU.

Odin's Thor Prophecy Explained
In 2011, the Marvel Cinematic Universe introduced Asgard and the gods of Norse mythology in the film Thor. Despite Loki's desire for the throne, it was ultimately Thor who was destined to become King. This ongoing conflict between Loki and his father, Odin, stemmed from the belief that Odin would never allow a Frost Giant like Loki to rule Asgard. This was further reinforced in Thor: The Dark World in 2013, as Odin stated that Thor had a destined role to bring order to the Nine Realms and become King. Sadly, this prophecy remained unfulfilled.
It wasn't until after Odin's death and the destruction of Asgard itself in Thor: Ragnarok in 2017 that Thor finally assumed the position of King. However, his reign was overshadowed by grief and depression, as his heart was never fully devoted to the role. Furthermore, Thor failed to bring order to the Nine Realms during his time as King. With Loki's actions in his self-titled series, there is a possibility that he could step up and fulfill the prophecy, bringing order to the MCU's multiverse.
Loki Saving The Multiverse Would Do What Thor Failed To
Where Thor failed, Loki has an opportunity for success. In season 1 of Loki, his mission was to uncover the truth about the TVA. However, with the demise of He Who Remains and the resulting destruction of the Sacred Timeline, the fate of the multiverse hangs in the balance. In season 2, Loki is determined to restore stability to the cosmos and mend the damage caused by He Who Remains' death. If Loki can accomplish this mission, repairing the Temporal Loom and reinstating order to the multiverse, he will rightfully earn the title of a true hero in the MCU and bring the peace that Thor could never achieve. New episodes of Loki are released every Thursday on Disney+.
Editor's P/S
As an enthusiastic fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, I am thrilled to see the character of Loki take on a more heroic role in Phase 5's Loki season 2. Tom Hiddleston's portrayal of the God of Mischief has been captivating since his debut in 2011's Thor, and it is exciting to see him finally get the chance to fulfill his destiny.
I believe that Loki has the potential to become a true hero in the MCU, and I am eager to see how his actions in season 2 will shape the future of the multiverse. With the destruction of the Sacred Timeline and the death of He Who Remains, Loki has the opportunity to bring order to the chaos and restore stability to the cosmos. If he can accomplish this mission, he will not only fulfill the prophecy that Thor was unable to achieve but also cement his place as one of the most beloved and complex characters in the MCU.
