The Witcher: Unveiling the Most Formidable and Ferocious Witchers in the Lore

In the world of The Witcher franchise, Geralt stands out as one of the most formidable Witchers. However, not all Witchers can match his level of strength, morals, willpower, and capabilities. Among the weaker Witchers are individuals like Kiyan, Berengar, Ivo Of Belhaven, and others.

The Witcher franchise is filled with an exciting wealth of lore and diverse characters, each possessing varying levels of power. From the multitude of mages who have passed through the gates of Aretuza, to the assortment of warriors hailing from different parts of the Continent, dangerous figures abound in this franchise.

Nevertheless, even among the Witchers themselves, there exist varying degrees of strength. While the lore mentions a greater number of Witchers than are actually depicted in the various adaptations of the franchise, it is not uncommon to come across Witchers who are significantly weaker than Geralt. Here, we present some of the least formidable Witchers, as described in the lore.

6 Jad Karadin

Many fans of The Witcher are unaware that there are alternative schools to Kaer Morhen for mastering the craft. Among these is the School of the Wolf, which is widely known. However, Jad Karadin received his training at the lesser-known School of the Cat. Unfortunately, this school was targeted and destroyed by humans who harbored mistrust towards Witchers.

Despite the devastation, Jad Karadin managed to survive as he was absent during the unfortunate event. Eventually, he transitioned into a new role as the leader of a bandit group. However, his past caught up with him when he killed another Witcher from his own school. When Geralt and Lambert finally track him down, their confrontation with him lacks struggle. Karadin's downfall stems from his lack of moral fortitude, fighting spirit, and actual combat abilities.

5 Kiyan

Little is known about Kiyan's past before he was taken captive. As a member of the School of the Cat, Kiyan was abducted by a mage who subjected him to cruel experiments, resulting in a grotesque transformation. Speculated to be possessed by a demon, this once Kiyan is now referred to as Mad Kiyan, his tale veiled in darkness.

Deep beneath Novigrad, Geralt stumbles upon the laboratory where Kiyan endured agonizing experimentation. Given the choice, Geralt can choose to bring an end to Kiyan's suffering. Despite his madness, Kiyan still displays formidable skills in battle, utilizing witcher signs. However, Geralt effortlessly overpowers him, highlighting Kiyan's lack of exceptional prowess as a witcher.

4 Berengar

Berengar is a prominent name in the first installment of The Witcher game, though it takes some time before actually encountering him. Initially presumed dead by Geralt after finding his belongings in a swamp, Berengar reappears alive and challenges Geralt to a duel due to his aversion towards Witchers.

Despite being a Witcher himself, having been trained by the respected Vesemir from the School of the Wolf, Berengar harbors resentment towards them for robbing him of his humanity. There is a possibility to spare Berengar, leading him to eventually fight alongside Geralt against Azar Javed. Alternatively, he can be killed in the duel. Regardless, Berengar meets his demise against formidable opponents, failing to prove himself as a superior Witcher.

3 Brehen

Coming from the School of the Cat, Brehen was a Witcher who strayed from his mission and became much more merciless than anyone could have predicted. One of the contributing factors to Brehen's downfall, and why he was not as proficient as other Witcher comrades, was that his mutagen transformation did not fully succeed.

The feline Witchers were known to experience side effects from their mutagens, primarily in terms of heightened emotions. These side effects made Brehen more prone to anger and less in control of himself, ultimately leading to his defeat against the Striga, who was revealed to be Princess Adda. Surprisingly, one can establish a romantic relationship with her after Geralt saves her. In order to conceal Brehen's failure, the Temerians secretly buried him, crafting a narrative that he had fled rather than face the creature. This incident highlights that Brehen was not on the same level as Geralt and other Witchers.

2 Ivo Of Belhaven

Ivo of Belhaven, a member of the School of the Bear, endured relentless beatings during his youth training, being considered a weak child. Despite this, he managed to develop enough strength to become a Witcher and achieve notable accomplishments. However, he struggled to escape the reputation of being one of the less powerful members of the corps.

The School of the Bear, although not as prominent as other Witcher schools, still produced a few individuals of note, including Ivo. Little is known about his ultimate fate, as reports of his death are scarce. It is possible that he may still be alive, biding his time to establish a more distinguished legacy.

1 Leo

In the first Witcher game, Leo resided in Kaer Morhen and was mentored by Vesemir, indicating a promising future as a Witcher. Despite being close to completing his training, Leo hadn't undergone the mutagen process to become a full-fledged Witcher.

Tragically, Leo never got the opportunity. During the initial battle at Kaer Morhen in The Witcher, he was slain by the Professor, one of the leaders of the Citadel attack. Leo's inexperience led to his misguided pursuit of those in charge, ultimately costing him his life before he could become a true Witcher. Although his tale is yet to be adapted for Netflix, it holds potential for future exploration.
