In a recent interview with The Verge, executive producer Steve Gaub discussed the reasoning behind splitting The Witcher season 3 into two parts. Drawing inspiration from Andrzej Sapkowski's books, this new season of the popular fantasy series on Netflix follows the gripping storyline of various rulers, sorcerers, and creatures as they vie to capture Ciri, while Geralt valiantly fights to protect his reunited family. June 29 will see the release of Volume 1, consisting of episodes 1 to 5, with Volume 2 following on July 27, featuring episodes 6 to 8.
The idea emerged during the editing process. It was not part of the original script and was not known when we were filming. However, we were aware of the overall season and an important turning point was already established. While we were in production, Stranger Things was released and they had divided their season. This caught our attention and sparked intrigue. In the streaming era, cliffhangers have lost some of their impact because viewers can simply click to the next episode without the anticipation, discussions, and online conversations. Therefore, we wanted to provide that sense of anticipation and engagement for our fans, and luckily the story allowed us to do so. Stay tuned for more...
