Season 3 of The Witcher brings back familiar faces in the form of mages, including Sabrina Glessivig (Therica Wilson Read). However, it remains unclear who can be trusted until the unveiling of true identities in episode 5 of season 3.
MyAnna Buring & Therica Wilson Read Talk The Witcher Season 3
: Interviews with Buring and Read shed light on Tissaia's tumultuous connection with Vilgefortz in The Witcher season 3, while also illuminating the offscreen development of Sabrina's storyline since season 1. Additionally, both actresses expressed their opinions on Henry Cavill's portrayal of the iconic character. Can you discuss how the relationship between Tissaia and Yennefer, filled with numerous complexities, progresses in season 3?
The relationship in season 1 can be compared to that of a child and a mother. In season 2, it transitions into a mother-teenager dynamic. However, in the current season, it has evolved into a relationship between two mature women, where one is a mother and the other has also become a mother in her own way. This shift takes both characters by surprise, resulting in emotionally poignant scenes.
I particularly enjoy this dynamic because there are moments when we start playing scenes just like we used to, almost as if nothing has changed. It reminds me of how it feels with close family members. Our buttons are still pushed in familiar ways, but we have grown and transformed. As a result, we become more conscious of our reactions and choose to respond differently. It adds a new layer of depth to the relationship.
I'm really excited to have Sabrina back. What has she been up to? How is she feeling about her role in the Brotherhood? Therica Wilson Read: Sabrina is back and stronger than ever. She exudes confidence and there's a new side of her that you haven't seen before. She's fierce, bold, and filled with passion. She can be quite blunt at times. You'll also witness the intense rivalry between her and Yennefer reach its peak. It's thrilling to portray this new version of Sabrina.
Tissaia and Vilgefortz appear to be a perfect match, but their alliance is severely strained due to conflicting opinions regarding the fate of both Ciri and Nilfgaard. How has this ongoing dilemma tested the strength of their bond this year?
MyAnna Buring: Tissaia truly believes that supporting Vilgefortz and working together as a team is crucial in navigating the divisive opinions that threaten to splinter the Brotherhood. The politics of the situation have always been precarious, but she believes they are ahead of the game and capable of gaining greater control. Ultimately, her goal is to strengthen and unite the Brotherhood, although the outcome remains uncertain. The alliance with Vilgefortz holds significant significance for her.
Unfortunately, we have to bid farewell to Henry as the Witcher this season. What do you love most about his portrayal of Geralt?
Therica Wilson Read: It's hard to choose just one thing. He is a big fan of both the games and the books, and I believe his depiction of Geralt is flawless. Perhaps it's the voice. The voice is simply outstanding, don't you think?
The best thing about him playing Geralt in The Witcher TV series is that he introduced the character to a whole new medium while bringing joy to both old and new fans. It has been a truly wonderful and celebratory experience, with everyone excited about Henry Cavill's portrayal of the Witcher. Now, we are also celebrating the fact that he is passing the baton to another actor, allowing the character to evolve further. This is a common practice with fantasy characters, and as actors, we find it incredibly thrilling.
