Tom Brady is no longer playing football on primetime TV, but his story might be gracing screens soon.
A limited series is currently being developed based on the 2018 nonfiction book 12: The Inside Story of Tom Brady’s Fight for Redemption, written by Casey Sherman and Dave Wedge. The series will focus on the retired NFL star and will be adapted for television by screenwriting duo Paul Tamasy and Eric Johnson. Tamasy and Johnson expressed in a statement to Deadline in September 2023 that the series will provide viewers with an inside look at Gillette Stadium, also known as Fortress Foxboro, showcasing thrilling come-from-behind victories, the darker aspects of success, and the creation of a winning culture at any cost.
Authors Sherman and Wedge have collaborated with Tamasy and Johnson on book adaptations before. They previously worked together on transforming Sherman's The Finest Hours into the 2016 film of the same title, featuring Chris Pine. Similarly, Tamasy and Johnson took Sherman and Wedge's book Boston Strong and turned it into the 2016 movie Patriots Day, starring Mark Wahlberg.
The Patriot Way aims to highlight Brady's journey to becoming a renowned NFL quarterback.
Brady's pro football career spanned 23 seasons, starting as the 199th pick in the 2000 draft. He spent a remarkable 20 years with the New England Patriots, clinching a staggering six Super Bowl titles. In 2020, Brady joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, securing another impressive Super Bowl victory. He then officially announced his retirement in February 2023.

Will Tom Brady Be in ‘The Patriot Way’?
Brady is not a part of the series. Tamasy and Johnson do not require any image rights to narrate the story since Brady and the NFL are public figures.
“This allows us the freedom to tell the story without a filter,” they told Deadline in September 2023.
