The Unstoppable Max Verstappen: A Trailblazer Among Formula One's Legendary Figures

Max Verstappen's extraordinary year propels him to new heights in Formula One, as Red Bull boss Christian Horner declares him among the sport's greatest A limitless future awaits this remarkable talent

Max Verstappen knows no bounds in Formula One, as he proved once again by securing his third world championship. The Dutch racer sealed the title by coming in second place during the sprint race at the Qatar Grand Prix, after his teammate Sergio Pérez's unfortunate exit - Pérez was the sole competitor who posed a threat to Verstappen's championship hopes.

And Red Bull's team principal, Christian Horner, asserts that despite his age of only 26, their driver is already one of the greatest in the sport's history.

"It's a considerable challenge to compare drivers from various generations and eras, especially those whom you haven't had personal interaction with," Horner informed CNN Sports' Amanda Davies ahead of the Qatar Grand Prix. He then confidently declared that Verstappen belongs to the same elite category as some of the sport's most legendary figures.

Horner stated that Lewis Hamilton, Michael Schumacher, Ayrton Senna, and other renowned drivers should be included in the conversation. Verstappen has earned a place alongside these iconic figures, Horner added. Moreover, Alonso, a two-time world champion, believes that Verstappen is poised to establish himself as a standout driver in the future.

"I believe that Max will experience even greater success in the coming years, to be completely candid. He will continue to accumulate championships, bringing us closer to the level of comparison with Michael Schumacher in the future," shared Alonso with reporters, according to Reuters.

Verstappens historic year

Red Bull has won 15 out of the 16 races this F1 season. Verstappen alone has won 13 of these races with teammate Pérez seeing the checkered flag first on two occasions.

"Hes just had an exceptional year, displaying sensational form that surpasses anything we have seen before," Horner exclaimed about Verstappen's remarkable season.

"There are insufficient words to capture the extent of his achievements this year. They have been truly extraordinary," Horner added.

From the very start, we have been able to create an outstanding car. The team's performance has also reached new heights, and achieving victory in almost every race this season is a remarkable feat that surpasses our wildest dreams.

According to Horner, this Red Bull season is destined for the annals of motorsport history, comparable to iconic years like McLaren's groundbreaking 1988 campaign. In that unforgettable season, McLaren triumphed in an astounding 15 out of the 16 races.

They are all cup finals

Horner stated that despite Red Bull's victory in the 2023 World Constructors Championship and Verstappen securing the drivers title, there is still unfinished business as the season approaches its end. He emphasized that all the remaining races are crucial, treating them as cup finals and approaching each race with the same level of determination as they did in the opening race in Bahrain.

Horner expressed his desire for his team to finish the season strongly, especially considering Pérez's ongoing fight for second place in the Drivers Championship. He emphasized the importance of maintaining focus and attention to detail, as this year has been momentous and historic for the team, possibly their most successful season ever in Formula 1.

"We strive to conclude the season with the utmost success," expressed Horner, when discussing the final phase.

"The attainment of second place by Checo [Pérez] holds immense significance for us - a feat we have never accomplished in the past, having our drivers claim both first and second positions in the Drivers World Championship. It would be a remarkable milestone for us to accomplish this feat in the current year."
