Part 1 of The Witcher season 3 brought forth major revelations that will shape the future of the series. One of the most significant reveals was the true adversary to conquer, Vilgefortz (Mahesh Jadu), prompting questions about his astounding power in comparison to Geralt of Rivia, Yennefer of Vengerberg, and Ciri. Action and unexpected twists abound in The Witcher season 3 Part 1, particularly concerning Ciri's safety and the individuals pursuing her. Throughout the season, the primary menace manifested in Rience (Sam Woolf), a mage who practices the forbidden art of fire magic and is discovered to be under the employ of a formidable mage with ties to Nilfgaard.

The investigation carried out by Geralt and Yennefer, with the assistance of Istredd and Triss, led them to suspect that Stregobor was the mage supporting Rience. However, at the end of The Witcher season 3 Part 1, Geralt and Yennefer came to realize that although Stregobor was not entirely innocent, he had been framed, and the true mage backing Rience was Vilgefortz. The upcoming Part 2 of The Witcher season 3 promises an intense clash between mages, with Vilgefortz taking center stage. Despite being the most formidable witcher with extraordinary abilities derived from mutations, Geralt's powers differ greatly from those of mages. Vilgefortz, on the other hand, discovered his innate magical talents and was raised by druids who honed his skills. Initially rejecting the opportunity to be apprenticed to a mage, Vilgefortz instead embarked on a path as a mercenary and spy, delving into the darker aspects of his being. Eventually, he joined the Brotherhood and his exceptional abilities and skills, although lacking formal magical education like the Ban Ard Academy (from where Rience was expelled), made him an unstoppable force.

Geralt, however, experienced abandonment from his mother and was taken under the care of Vesemir, who guided him to Kaer Morhen. It was at this place where Geralt underwent rigorous training to become a witcher. The Trial of the Grasses, a grueling process, was endured by Geralt to obtain the powers and abilities of a witcher, along with additional enhancements. Subsequently, Geralt underwent further experimental mutagens, which granted him increased speed, strength, and endurance. In the Netflix series The Witcher, Geralt has exhibited proficiency in casting basic magic spells called "signs," although they are considerably less potent compared to the magic employed by mages and sorceresses.

Though Geralt is highly proficient in combat, Vilgefortz surpasses him in power, as illustrated in the novels. In Time of Contempt, the book on which the third season of The Witcher is mainly based, Geralt confronts Vilgefortz during the Thanedd Coup, resulting in the witcher's defeat and severe injury. Consequently, Geralt is sent to the Brokilon forest for recovery, while Vilgefortz's face remains scarred following Ciri's escape.

Unlike Vilgefortz, Yennefer attended Aretuza, the magical school, with the goal of mastering the art of harnessing and controlling chaos. Throughout the Battle of Sodden Hill in Netflix's The Witcher series, Yennefer showcased her incredible strength and abilities, despite experiencing a temporary loss of power. In season 3, Yennefer even demonstrated her formidable strength by successfully holding one of Rience's portals. However, when compared to Vilgefortz, her power falls short. Although Vilgefortz has not yet revealed the extent of his abilities on the show, it is clear that his powers surpass those of Yennefer. Additionally, Yennefer's power has been compromised since the Battle of Sodden Hill, further highlighting Vilgefortz's natural dominance and dangerous potential. While Yennefer received formal training at Aretuza, Vilgefortz's innate power and formidable nature are evident, despite his lack of formal education.

In comparison to Geralt of Rivia and Yennefer of Vengerberg, Vilgefortz possesses superior power. Defeating the former two might be a simple task for him, but facing Ciri is a different story. Ciri, the Princess of Cintra, is sought after by half of the Continent due to her possession of Elder Blood. Additionally, she is a Source, endowed with a natural affinity for magic. However, once her powers fully develop, they become challenging to control. Ciri's abilities and potential are so immense that she has the capability to either save or destroy the world, depending on the side she aligns herself with and her choice of mentor. Although Ciri identifies as a witcher in Netflix's The Witcher series, she is currently undergoing rigorous magic training. While she has already demonstrated her prowess in combat and monster slaying, her journey in mastering magic has only just begun.

Once Ciri unleashes her full potential and masters the art of harnessing her chaotic nature, utilizing her formidable scream as an advantage, she possesses the potential to ascend as the mightiest character in The Witcher. There remains much to be discovered and understood about Vilgefortz and Ciri, particularly concerning their individual abilities. It remains uncertain whether these two formidable figures will eventually clash in the series.
