In this epic saga, the gods from various religions come together to cast their vote on the eradication of humanity, citing their deep-rooted corruption and wickedness. Zeus, hailed as the father of the cosmos and the leader of the Greek gods, assumes a role that surpasses any previous portrayal of his character. He embodies every facet of true power.
Zeus not only stands as one of the most formidable gods, but he also holds the highest position amidst all cultural and religious deities. Revered by legendary figures such as Odin and Shiva, Zeus is regarded as their guiding force and commands utmost admiration. The extent of Zeus's strength leaves no room for doubt.
What is Record of Ragnarok about?
Brunhilde, a Valkyrie or demi-god, provokes the gods to join the Ragnarok, a prophesied event that will pit humanity against the gods. This decisive tournament will determine the fate of humanity, with 13 fighters from each side engaging in one-on-one battles to the death. The first side to achieve seven victories will emerge as the ultimate victor. Across various cultures and religions, the most renowned warriors throughout history face off against the mighty gods, creating legends and tales of their societal influence. From King Leonidas of Sparta to Nicola Tesla and Thor, the God of Thunder, to Poseidon, God of the Seas, these names carry great significance in all aspects of society. The story unveils flashbacks of each fighter's past, providing justifications for their participation in this destined contest.
As the gods' representative, Zeus stands as the champion against the mortal fighters, while Brunhilde takes the lead for humanity. Together, they select the fighters and discuss the arenas for each round. Specific regulations govern the Ragnarok, determining the consequences when one side emerges victorious. Each fight concludes when a combatant is slain by their opponent, without any time restrictions on each match's duration. Participants may engage in multiple battles as long as they remain alive. Occasionally, there are exceptions to the rules, such as when Lu Bu's red horse entered the first match, enabling his master to continue fighting despite sustaining leg injuries or when Buddha chose to fight on behalf of the human team instead of the gods. An integral and crucial rule of the Ragnarok is that the entire human population gets to witness and be present during the event, as its outcome significantly impacts them.
How Powerful is Zeus in Record of Ragnarok?
Zeus is a formidable contender in the tournament's second round, where he confronts Adam, the first human and progenitor of all humankind. Zeus undergoes a transformation, morphing his body into a colossal mass of muscle to engage in battle. Each of his attacks possesses such immense strength that they have the potential to swiftly end the fight. His movements are so rapid that the human eye cannot even track them, and he even wields an attack that surpasses the constraints of time itself, aptly named after his father Chronos, the deity of time. At the height of his power, Zeus condenses his expansive muscles, assuming a new form called Adamas, which sends shivers of apprehension through the entire stadium due to its overwhelming aura. In this form, his attacks become even more devastating, as all his muscular might is condensed and concentrated into a single point. This transformation enables him to unleash strikes that embody the true essence of godly power, rendering them virtually impossible to evade.
Renowned as the "father of the cosmos," Zeus not only holds dominion over Greek mythology but also garners reverence and seeks guidance from Indian and Norse gods. With ease, he can manipulate other deities into compliance without resorting to physical confrontation, asserting his authority and issuing directives when he deems necessary. As the paramount divinity, Zeus's power extends beyond his physical prowess to encompass astute political maneuvering.
Where Did Zeus's Story leave off in Record of Ragnarok?
After emerging victorious in the tournament, Zeus assumes the role of strategist for the gods. In round 9, he designates Apollo, the sun god, to represent the immortals in battle. From his seat in the VIP gods section, Zeus attentively observes the fights, and during intermissions, he engages with warriors individually, discussing the powers, abilities, and mindset of the gods competing in the arena.
Considering the unpredictable nature of outcomes and the capricious personalities of the individual gods, Zeus may alter the remaining line-up of fighters on his side. Leveraging his extensive knowledge of various pantheons, as well as his influence and respect, Zeus ensures that he makes the best decisions for his team. As the tournament progresses, it appears that Zeus will continue to operate from behind the scenes, meticulously orchestrating the participation of the gods at the appropriate moments.
