Despite the unconventional nature of Anakin's time with the Jedi Order, he was assigned a Padawan shortly after becoming a fully-fledged Jedi at the onset of the Clone Wars. While Anakin's descent into the dark side was tragic, it did not negate the valuable teachings that Ahsoka acquired from him, which she will undoubtedly pass on to Sabine in Ahsoka.

Anakin's journey towards the dark side began just before the Clone Wars commenced. The war. although bringing out some of Anakin's negative traits, also showcased his positive qualities. Anakin's compassion, kindness, and unwavering loyalty, especially towards his fellow Jedi clones, became defining aspects of his character in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. In Star Wars Rebels, Ahsoka would come face-to-face with the truth about her former mentor, now known as the Sith Lord Darth Vader. Despite the heartbreak caused by Anakin's transformation, Ahsoka never forgot the goodness he once possessed, nor the invaluable lessons she learned from him during her time as his Padawan.

Anakin's Age Didn't Impact How He Taught Ahsoka

Anakin Skywalker, known for his distinctive entry into the Jedi Order at an older age compared to most initiates, possessed prior attachments to his mother and friends from Tatooine, his home planet. The Jedi Council initially displayed hesitation in accepting Anakin as one of their own, but eventually gave in and permitted his training due to his potential portrayal as the Chosen One foretold in Jedi texts and Qui-Gon Jinn's dying wish for Anakin to become a Jedi. It was not solely Anakin's age or preexisting connections that led to his descent to the dark side, but rather his relationships becoming detrimental, Palpatine's manipulation, and the dysfunctional and emotionally unhealthy practices within the Jedi Order.

Sabine Can Become A Jedi - With The Right Guidance

In Star Wars Rebels, Sabine is not initially portrayed as Force-sensitive. However, since the Force exists within all beings, she has the potential to be trained in its ways and harness its power, even if her connection to it is weak. Ahsoka, as seen in previews, will take on the role of Sabine's mentor and teach her the Jedi arts, including lightsaber combat (which she already received a crash course in from Kanan Jarrus). It is worth noting that Sabine starts her training at a much later age than Anakin did, and she also has more emotional attachments. Fortunately, Ahsoka's experience as Anakin's former Padawan has taught her how to navigate the possible challenges that may arise during Sabine's training.

Ahsoka understandably worries about Sabine's fate, fearing that her attachments and delayed Jedi training may lead her down a path similar to Anakin's. However, Ahsoka recognizes Anakin's noble qualities and understands that it was not solely his attachments that caused his downfall. Ahsoka is determined to guide Sabine in cultivating healthy attachments, strengthening her bond with the Force, and steering her away from the dark side. By doing so, she aims to prevent Sabine from repeating her old mentor's mistakes.
