However, her ultimate destiny in RUIN varies based on the decisions made by the player.
The amount of context and content provided in Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach RUIN is truly astounding. After eagerly waiting for a year and a half for the free DLC expansion, fans were pleasantly surprised by the size of RUIN. Not only does it introduce a brand new character that adds depth to the game's story, but it also brings back the horror and strategic elements that the series is known for. This return to form has been highly appreciated by dedicated fans.
In Security Breach, players follow the protagonist, Gregory, who cleverly hides in the chest compartment of Glamrock Freddy to evade the suspicious security guard, Vanessa, whom he doesn't trust. Gregory's journey takes a turn when he goes off the grid, as confirmed by the RUIN expansion's canonization of the Princess Quest ending. This sets the stage for a new storyline where one of Gregory's friends, Cassie, receives a distress message from him, stating that he is trapped in the pizzeria. Despite their friendship, Gregory and Cassie handle their respective situations ironically.
Gregory's Story is Full of Ruin
Gregory shifts his focus from his current location to finding an escape in Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach. His main goal is to leave the Mega Pizzaplex as quickly as possible. This desire stems from the fact that Vanny, a dangerous individual, is chasing after him. Additionally, Gregory is aware of the recent disappearances in the Mega Pizzaplex, and possibly even the larger mysteries surrounding Fazbear Entertainment. Initially, the challenge is simply surviving until the doors open at 6 AM. However, as the night progresses, Gregory's mission becomes more complex. Now, he aims to uncover the truth behind Vanny's actions and put a stop to the ongoing disappearances. Along the way, Gregory leaves a trail of destruction, defeating Montgomery Gator, Roxxane Wolf, and Glamrock Chica. He cleverly utilizes their own attractions (or the kitchen in Chica's case) to incapacitate them and gather upgrades for Glamrock Freddy. Initially, Gregory deceives Freddy regarding the fate of their friends, manipulating him to stay on his side.
Cassie Shows Why the Game is Called Security Breach
While Gregory successfully solves the mystery and defeats Vanny, there is limited information explicitly provided in the game about her true intentions. RUIN changes this by uncovering that the identity of "Vanny" was actually a creation of the Mimic, a highly unstable animatronic that uses Vanny's mask to establish a neurological connection with someone. The Mimic's objective is to escape by manipulating Vanessa, and in RUIN, Cassie is deceived by the Mimic into believing that she is saving Gregory instead of protecting one of Fazbear Entertainment's well-guarded secrets. Throughout the storyline, the Mimic serves as the primary breach in security.
Contrary to Gregory, Cassie holds a strong admiration for Glamrock Freddy and his band, particularly favoring the character of Roxy. Furthermore, her father serves as a technician for Fazbear Entertainment, resulting in Cassie having a personal connection to the animatronics. This is evident in her emotional response of shock and sadness when witnessing their deteriorated condition, which reaches its peak when Cassie must deactivate Roxy.
Taking a different approach from Gregory, Cassie chooses to assist the damaged animatronics in the best way possible. She combines Sundrop and Moondrop to form Eclipse and offers players the opportunity to repair Chica's voice box. However, their fates diverge as Gregory escapes unharmed after dismantling the animatronics, while Cassie, depending on the outcome of RUIN for the player, either ends up lost or even dead.
Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach RUIN is now available on Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
