The Ultimate Zelda: Unleashing an Epic Autonomous Combat Drone

A skilled player of Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom ingeniously pushes the game's building mechanics to their limits, crafting an impressive autonomous combat drone

A talented player of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has created an impressive combat drone that operates on its own. The footage of this impressive engineering feat went viral on social media, following another popular video showcasing a functioning combustion engine within the game.

In the newest installment of the Zelda series, Tears of the Kingdom, the game builds upon the open-world concept of its predecessor in numerous ways. One standout feature is the Ultrahand ability, which allows the protagonist, Link, to construct structures and vehicles using various movable objects he encounters during his adventures. This innovative mechanic has resulted in a wealth of community creations, continuously growing in number since the game's release in mid-May.

Reddit user Ultrababouin recently showcased their most advanced drone yet, the Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom machine. This impressive creation utilizes multiple fans and Zonai Beam Emitters mounted on auto-targeting Construct Heads, allowing it to wreak havoc from above. To maximize its air time, the drone is equipped with Zonai Batteries and a rocket-propelled lift-off mechanism.

In a video demonstration, Ultrababouin launches the drone from Rimba Beach to Cap Cresia, where it immediately engages an enemy patrol led by a Boss Bokoblin. Thanks to strategic fan placement, the unmanned aircraft circles the Bokoblin mob, allowing its lasers to decimate the group in just 90 seconds. However, it's worth noting that there are faster methods of dispatching enemies using the game's building mechanics, as demonstrated by another Tears of the Kingdom player who effortlessly defeated a silver Boss Bokoblin with a simpler contraption.

The current design of this combat drone could be made even more lethal by replacing its Beam Emitters with more powerful weapons like Zonai Cannons. However, it cannot simply be equipped with additional armaments due to the limit of 21 components imposed on Ultrababouin's autonomous combat drone. Nonetheless, this creation illustrates the significant advancements in aircraft designs since the release of the game, as it is both sleeker and more powerful compared to the Tears of the Kingdom attack drones that gained popularity online in May.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom can be played on Nintendo Switch.
