Players should consider completing the side quest "What a Bird Wants" in Final Fantasy 16 due to its simplicity and convenient location. The quest involves delivering a wooden crate and rewards players with useful items. Additionally, players can easily return to complete the quest later by utilizing the nearby Obelisk for fast travel to Martha's Rest.
How to Complete What a Bird Wants in Final Fantasy 16
Players can initiate the "What a Bird Wants" side quest in Final Fantasy 16 while progressing through the "Homecoming" main story mission near Martha's Rest. Rowan, a traveling trader, serves as the quest giver and can be easily located on the main path just past a stone bridge. It is hard to miss him due to the presence of a carriage being attacked by four hungry Chocobos. These audacious birds prevent Rowan from completing his delivery to Martha's Rest, leading him to request Clive's assistance in the matter.
Given that players are already heading towards Martha's Rest in Final Fantasy 16, it would be wise for them to accept the side quest. This is especially beneficial because Rowan has agreed to let Clive keep the delivery fee as a token of gratitude for his assistance. If they decide to take on the task, all they need to do is continue following the path towards Martha's Rest and make a stop at the stables on their left. Here, they will encounter Gerard, the Stable Master, whom they should approach to hand over the Sealed Crate.
After expressing his gratitude, Gerard rewards Clive with a few materials for his service. Players will receive 19 XP, along with ten Sharp Fangs and five Bloody Hides. These items are valuable for crafting and upgrading gear, particularly the Wolfskin Sash +1. This side quest proves beneficial for players wanting to enhance Clive's defenses upon returning to Cid's hideaway. Alternatively, players can choose to save the Bloody Hides for later use, as crafting the Circle of Heaven, the superior upgradable Belt for Clive, will require several hundred of them. It's worth noting that Final Fantasy 16 is currently only available on the PlayStation 5.
