Fans of Criminal Minds have long debated who they believe to be the best Chief of the Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU). With the recent return of the profilers to the small screen in Criminal Minds: Evolution, fans have been reflecting on the entire series and making their choices.
On Twitter, fans of the show have been sharing their opinions on the best BAU Chief. It seems that Aaron Hotchner and Emily Prentiss are consistently mentioned as fan favorites. Jason Gideon also receives recognition, which is not surprising considering the lasting impact he had on the team even after Mandy Patinkin's departure from the show. Interestingly, fans seem to prefer the more recent BAU chiefs as their top choices, despite any challenges that may have come with the transition from Hotch to Prentiss. Take a look at some of the tweets below:
Will Hotch Return In Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 2?
It might be an opportune moment to reintroduce Hotch to Criminal Minds, as the threat of Mr. Scratch has been eliminated and Jack, Hotch's son, has grown older and more independent. With Jack potentially in college now, Hotch wouldn't need to constantly supervise him, allowing him the freedom to return for Paramount+’s Criminal Minds revival. However, the manner in which Thomas Gibson was dismissed from the show creates significant obstacles for his character's comeback. Recasting Hotch may be the only viable option to bring him back into the fold.
Prentiss will continue to serve as the BAU Chief, a position she has held for several years. She demonstrated strong leadership during the challenging times of the COVID pandemic, showcasing her competence and effectiveness. Given the past pressures she has faced, it would be beneficial for her to receive assistance from her predecessor in Criminal Minds.
