The Heavy archetype in The Finals is known for its slow speed, durability, and ability to cause destruction. This class is designed for demolitions and suppressive fire, using deafening machine gun fire and terrifying grenade salvos to attack enemy contestants.
Each class in the game has its own playstyle specialization, which depends on the equipment chosen by players for each match. Although there is no definitive best Heavy build in The Finals, there are certain loadouts that excel in specific situations. Here are a few optimized example builds for the Heavy class, tailored for different roles and scenarios.
The Finals — Heavy Grenadier Build
Weapon: MGL32
Equipment: RPG-7, Barricade, Explosive Mine
Specialization: Charge 'N' Slam
While not considered the most effective, this Heavy loadout can be incredibly frustrating to face. The MGL32 may not have the ability to demolish structures, but its ability to saturate a room with numerous grenades makes it exceedingly difficult to prevent a cashout. It boasts rapid firing and reloading speeds, allowing the Heavy to resume bombarding enemies with explosives by the time they reach a deposit box.
This loadout emphasizes a slow and defensive playstyle, which is ironic considering the fast-paced nature of the shooter game. Players who heavily rely on the Grenade Launcher will likely struggle in direct gunfights, especially when facing agile opponents who prefer lighter loadouts. That's why the Charge 'N' Slam specialization is recommended - it allows players to quickly escape by charging through walls when caught in the open.
However, this loadout excels in cashout scenarios. Players should strategically position themselves to throw grenades, using Barricades to create cover and placing Explosive Mines behind them. This will prevent anyone attempting to climb or vault over the Barricades from escaping unscathed. Once the defensive position is established, the key is to continuously throw grenades until the cashout is completed.
All-Rounder Machine Gun Heavy Build
Weapons: M60/Lewis Gun
Equipment: C4, Frag Grenade, RPG-7
Specialization: Mesh Shield
This is a general-purpose loadout that excels in close-medium-range combat and area control, and it works best in maps with plenty of open sight lines like Seoul.
Machine guns serve as the versatile weapon for the Heavy class, capable of handling various scenarios. With their large magazine capacity and powerful shot damage, skilled machine gunners can eliminate multiple enemy contestants in a single encounter.
The C4 and RPG-7 are specifically designed for demolishing walls and floors. By equipping both, players gain the ability to place deposit stations on two different floors, giving their team a significant advantage. Additionally, the RPG-7 has the capability to instantly eliminate agile Light and Medium players, while the C4 can be effectively used against anyone attempting to steal a cashout.
Mesh Shield assists the team in traversing exposed spaces, such as the rooftops and bridges of Seoul, and establishing strong defensive positions amid areas of conflict. Players must exercise caution with their placement when utilizing this ability, as the shield solely provides frontal coverage.
Pyromaniac Heavy Build
Weapon: Flamethrower
Equipment: RPG-7, Gas Mine, Barricade
Specialization: Goo Gun
The Flamethrower excels in close combat situations, leveraging its ability to effectively drive enemies out of confined spaces. Its formidable strength lies in defending objectives, with its only drawback being its limited range. With a skilled Flamethrower Heavy on the team, players can easily hold a cashout.
On the other hand, the Goo Gun compensates for the Flamethrower's weaknesses by allowing players to obstruct sight lines and create optimal zones for maximum damage with the Flamethrower. It is important to note that Goo burns and creates hazardous walls of fire when ignited, posing a threat to all players, including allies.
Gas Mines and Barricades are highly effective in transforming cashout fights into chaotic close-quarter combat nightmares for the enemy team. As soon as a hostile team infiltrates a room, swiftly restrict their means of escape by employing the formidable Goo Gun. Enhance the disruption by unleashing a lethal combination of gas and fire upon them. To further intensify the confrontations, strategically collapse a ceiling onto the cashout station, ensuring that every nook and cranny is filled with an arsenal of Gas Mines and Goo.

As a Gen Z fan, I am excited about the new Heavy builds in The Finals. The Explosive Grenadier build looks like a lot of fun, with its ability to saturate a room with grenades. I also like the Versatile Machine Gunner build, which is great for close-medium-range combat and area control. Finally, the Fiery Pyromaniac build is perfect for defending objectives with its Flamethrower.
I think these new builds will add a lot of variety to the game and make it more fun to play. I can't wait to try them out for myself!
